Door dent repair

Hey everyone,

got into a minor accident where someone hit my passenger side door panel. I’m looking at repairing this myself and I was wondering if I can get access to the inside by removing the inside door panel?

I bought a dent repair kit and it has more than enough tools. I know that I can get most of the dents out as long as I can access the inside of the dent from the door panel.

I guess my question is will I be able to access it? Thanks for the help!!

I am usually a do it myself kinda guy, but have you called the local dent wizard guy? It seems to be a bit of an art to doing it. I paid one guy $60 about 10 years ago and $100 about 5 years ago.

I don’t think you’re going to be able to work that out. When you look at the door, there is a large part that protrudes into the cab on the sides and bottom, forming a box. Much of that “box” is welded to the door skin, which would make it very difficult to pull or push out dents in the door skin.

I would bet the sides of that box are also wrinkled. Looks like you need a fender as well.

Besides all that, there are limited points you can access the door skin from inside.

I’d let the at fault party’s insurance deal with it.

I can't offer any advise, but I had a small crease removed from my door 2 years ago and it cost me around $150, but it was worth it.

My wife had a nasty dent in her brand new volvo many years ago, and the metal had been stretched across the inner support bar inside the door. It was unable to be completely repaired, but it was way better.

Faulty party's insurance will have it looking like new at no cost to you or effort on your part. Should even get a rental car.

On a scale of 1-10, how comfortable are those shoes? My feet can't handle wearing work boots everyday anymore so I'm looking for some slip ons to wear while driving

I always use my dent repair guy. There’s an art to it and many expensive tools needed for the job. Do you have a light bar for dent removal? A must have to make it look professional. However, your dent looks like it may need to see a body shop.

A big FEDEX truck pulled out fast in front of me from a side road and spun out throwing gravel back. I didn't get the license number unfortunately so my comprehensive had to cover the repair... unfortunately I have a $100 deductible.

I hate to be Debbie Downer but if you need to ask that question there is little to zero chance you can successfully repair that dent.
Probably, at minimum, a new door skin.

What does it look like when you take the dark grey siding off? How much of the outer door side is accessible?

I personally wouldn't mess with that area. I had less of a dent in my door and ended up being wrinkled.

That’s not my door - just a picture off the internet, but it’s going to be very limited and bisected by the internal part.

Yes, its just a glued on foam cover, look up guys on youtube putting speakers in they take it off and show the opening ...
