I didn't even know those existed until a few years ago. I was waiting in line for a school pickup (early enough that most drivers turned off their vehicles). When it came time to go, the car next to me wouldn't start. A guy comes out with one of those, and got it started.

Never have liked using jumper cables, so I bought a Noco. First day I had it, my riding mower wouldn't start, so I got immediate use out of it. Since then the only time I used it was to help a stranded motorist. They are nice to have.

I'm cheap so I bought the Imazing IM29 a few year ago. Project Farm is always doing reviews on jump starters. Here is one of them with the Noco GB40 mentioned above:

I have the Audew product and Noco. I like the Noco line due to simplicity. With many other self recovery starters, you’ll need to keep the manual handy. Some can get complicated and you’ll forget the procedures and settings. The Noco are KISS, however I think the case is extra.

Also…please keep in mind; On more than two occasions my self recovery starter clamps would not reach and/or could not grasp the dead battery post. This is more likely to happen on newer vehicles. So then, I still keep a set of cheap jumper cables in my vehicles. Making sure they have the clamps that have the extra low profile jaws on the end.

I have two Halo Bolt Portable Compact Jump starters... one has the air compressor, the other doesn't. I keep the one without the air compressor in the Ranger and the one with air compressor in the old Mountaineer since that's the vehicle I take back and forth to the horse barn. I have a tire on my small manure spreader has a slow leak in one of the tires, so I've used the Halo several times for adding air to that tire (it does take a while to get the tire back up to 12psi, so imagine on a truck tire it would take a very long time but it would eventually get it done). The Halo Bolts hold a charge for a very long time, even in the cold. They have a built in flash light and other features.

I got the NOCO GB50 and matching case using my 42000 points at Midland Ford in Michigan. They created an invoice and used my points even though I live in Oregon. Used it once to start my daughters Acura and it worked like a champ.

The noco gb 40 for me as well, I have one for both cars and I always take it with me in the boat when I take it out just in case it’s so much easier than jumper cables. I Got them both on Black Friday sales last year they are still fully charged after a year I pull them out every 6 months or so to keep them ready to go. It’s Also not a bad idea to keep a 12v compressor in the car it’s easier than changing a tire on the road I’ve helped a couple of people out with that also

I've used NOCO to jump start my generator and zero turn too...they're good as an extra battery bank too...not that I need any more in my truck...

only, only downside to my Noco GB50 is the light switch. Mine came in a carry bag, not hard case, and I placed something next to it and wouldn't you know they came in contact and the light turned on. Fortunately I found it before the pack was out of juice and I needed it.

I do still have the heavy gauge, extra long jumper cables my Dad made back in the early 1960's after having to help push a co-workers car out from head in parking against a wall, so they could jump it. did I mention he worked second shift and it was in a snow storm as well?

I have two GOOLOOs and both have worked fine in turning over a 50 year old 3.9 liter straight six.

Here are pics of both side by side: https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/thre...e-mail-today-for-your-ranger.1866/post-606070

The newer GOOLOO is more "throw away" than the older one I have because of how a fusible link is built in, but they both work well and I tend to only charge them every two or three months.

I do also carry some old jumper cables (I gotta fill those Swingcases and reduce payload somehow!). =D

I bought a generic one from Amazon a few years back and have used it a handful of times. Definitely easier than cables. Does the trick.

Mine is very similar to this one, which is $60 bucks:

I've also used it several times for phone charging. Comes in handy for day trips....long day at the beach or ballpark.

Makes a damn good Christmas gift too!

It's funny when people refer to brands like GOOLOO, NEHAPY, RABUNGOOO like it's a real brand. I got a few brands kicked off amazon with fake reviews and they just reappeared with a different brand name.

I've had this Bestek jumper for 5+ years and just recently realized it's modeled after a Pmag.

Noco gb40 as well. My buddy used to use one for work as a boat mechanic, and he was genuinely using it several times a day starting all manner of engines, and the thing only needed to charged once or twice a week. Mine lives in my swing case, and i just pull it out every 6 months or so and give it a top off charge, but it barely drops any. My favorite use for it was helping someone start an old Cadillac big block (60's or 70's land yacht), never missed a beat.

They usually go on sale for black friday / cyber monday on amazon, i'd pick one up then.
