Part two of the new battery jumper ... or ... maybe I should slow down and read sometimes!

So the new Gooloo was $20 cheaper and that's because it doesn't come with a hard case, just a nylon pouch. Which would probably be just fine for Soupie, but I have my personal image of being a tough guy, so I need a tough case (although, I'm not as tough as my Mad Max hero @DukeCanBuildit). =D

And holy cow, it seems far larger than the original one! But it's not quite as bad as I thought when looking at them side by side. Keep in mind, both these jumpers are rated at 4000 amps.

It's what isn't arriving that is beginning to annoy me, 2 weeks back bought a travel trailer and needed a brake controller and a weight disti hitch, both were ordered from Amazon on 08/14, both were originally schedule to arrive on 08/21, then came several reschedules owing to shipping problems and now the items are scheduled to be delivered on 08/29, but with the caveat that if they don't arrive I can get a refund. One item was a tekonsha brake controller, when ordered was $92, now it's $77 , I called amazon saying I wished to get the lower price or cancel the order as they had offered that option with the 2nd reschedule but the latest reschedule cancellation wasn't offered. So prior to receiving it I've initiated a return and reordered the controller at the $77 price it's scheduled to be delivered on 08/28 , this whole thing doesn't add up and makes me wonder about Amazon . I need this items to pickup my RV but Amazon reps could care less.

Turtle Wax Ceramic Wash and Wax. I don’t have a ceramic coating on my truck but I thought “why not?” with this one.
Usually a Meguiar’s and Griots guy.

The new one is thicker because the power relay is in the case and not on the leads like the simpler one. It's basically a throw away when the relay fries where the other you just replace the cable set.

That makes sense. The older one has the "boost" on the leads, so more going on, as you said.

Makes the older one more desirable, doesn't it?

I bought the older one for that reason. Apparently the relay is the weak link in this type of product. The newer one can be dissambled and have a new realy soldered in but it's not easy to find a relay that fits I have heard. Used mine the other day to get my generator started and boy are they worth having.

You're not kidding. The battery on the FJ40 was dead as dead can be and hadn't been started in over three years. I cranked it, on boost, six times and it roared to life. That FJ can run without a battery.

That jump starter's leads got too hot to touch but it didn't blow, so hats off to their construction. I hope the newer one holds up as well and that the Ranger never needs it.

Sounds like I need to do more research if I want to be more self-reliant in this department.

Thanks for the relay insight! =)

I’ve used the NOCO GB40 on my ranger and it worked flawlessly from a completely drained battery. They are on sale for $80 from Amazon right now for a few more hours. I’ve used NOCO stuff for years and never had an issue.

Thanks for the tip and 20% off right now! Added bonus, their USB cable is 23" long (and has a ferrite core added), I think the GooLoo is 8"! =p

Front coil overs came in tonight and I installed the rear shocks, about 50 minutes, not quite as easy as some have said. Even with the suspension hanging (jacked from the frame) I had to use a second Jack to compress the shocks in order to install the bottom bolt.
Fronts and tires go on next Wednesday.

you might be interested in one of these for a dash cam - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0C3KNM8R2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Mine arrives next week. It is a tap to draw power from the mirror to power a dashcam or radar detector . . .

That menas there won't be a pesky long USB cable going to the USB port, instead the camera will look like this...

This little cable adapter thing came today.

Installed it while waiting in car line.

Well made, and it includes 3 different short us cables AND a sticker.
