I haven't changed the cabin air filter yet. The manual says to access it through the glove box. How do you do that?
Sorry to be so long in responding, I got tied up with life stuff and haven’t been around much lately.

My 2022 didn’t have the damper cord, so I just open the glove box, press inward on both sides of the box so it will open all the way down. Then the filter box is right in front of you. Just open the latch and open the filter box door. Exchange the filters and reverse the above to close everything up.

Good luck.

You left out the step of picking up all the stuff that was in your glove box that is now in the floor and putting it back into the glove box. :)

Hey everyone,

I am still learning what is going to be the top things to be aware of for scheduled maintenance and what to look out for. My truck is rolling over at 30k and I spoke to one guy I trust who works for Phil Long Lincoln/Ford here in Colorado Springs. He gave me a general run down of things to be aware of. He definitely said to stay on top of the fuel management system with a fuel injection service ever 15k, change to full synthetic(done) and add a catch can(done). I have already done a UPR catch can. I am more than willing and ready to go above and beyond on the maintenance of this truck to insure it’s staying at peak performance for as long as possible and hopefully avoid any unnecessary repairs or issues. Any advice or suggestions for someone willing to go way down the rabbit hole on any and everything to keep it extremely well maintained? Oil is getting changed every 5k with full synthetic royal purple. I’m just more less curious about when it’s times to do fluid flushes, filter changes, etc.. I have the maintenance schedule from Ford but curious if anyone recommends a different oil for such things as transmission, differentials, transfer case, etc. Possibly any better filters or really anything that is going to maximize the vehicles life, quality and performance.

I apologize for the rambling, I come from over a million miles on Toyota trucks and very well versed in things to do, maintain and look out for. Not so much on Ford just yet but willing to ask questions, do some homework and labor to do the same TLC that I did on my Toyotas but now in my Ranger.

thanks!
IDK bout the injector service thing but I would keep a very careful eye on the transmission change the fluid on that well before ford says to, otherwise put on those reading glasses and look at your trucks owners manual which spells it all out. Also As others said I would look at the diff fluids too around 30 to 50k just to be safe, and use good gas ie top tier

Thanks for the advice. Yeah we did both front/rear diff fluid changes, transmission filter/fluid swap. Coolant flush, brake fluid and power steering fluid flush. Injector clean, fuel treatment service and they did a media blast of something on the intake. Guessing they take something off and blast all the carbon build up off. I don’t completely understand what they did but the guy who did it all is head of service and is a close friend of other friends who says he is obsessed with Fords and taking care of them. Until I become more well versed on maintenance for Fords, I’m just kind of going off what has been recommended.

Totally fair, how does it shift? Any hesitation jerking hunting for gears?

It’s shifting great. Quite smooth, every blue moon it will give a mild hard shift down when it’s idling high, usually only when I’m coasting down hill in residential areas around the 30-40mph zone.
Still shifts and behaves 20 times better than my last Gen 3 Tacoma did, specially while in the mountains here in the Rockies. Quite curious to experience how it will drive once I have my lift and new wheels/tires on.

I know you listed a bunch of fluid changes/flushes. Just curious about the power steering fluid flush? Our trucks don't have any. They have electronic power assisted steering (EPAS).

I had to pull up the paper work on the work order. I thought they had did that, my bad. Yeah nothing on the power steering. Pretty much everything else was done, including air filter, cabin filter. When I went in I told them I don’t care if it is possibly premature but I want to over kill the maintenance. The guy said actually everything they did was what all the techs recommended. They even mentioned being a little overly proactive on the transmission and fuel system. So far though the handful of dealerships I’ve had it to for either parts department or scheduled maintenance all have said every Ranger owner seems to be having really reliable experience with them.

The shnakaful needs to be rotated 180 degrees every 3 months or 12 weeks, whichever comes first.
Blinker fluid both in taillights and mirrors (if so equipped) checked quarterly and changed every 3 1/2 quarters.
Check interior of muffler for rust, moisture, and black stuff.
Wipe down and treat the tire interior's with 303 Protectant.
If you have a damper, make sure it's going in and out in and out, not, out and in out and in
And follow the schedule you posted. :like:

I change oil/filter every 5000 miles, air/cabin filter every 3rd oil change. Rear end at 12,000 miles. Haven't changed trans fluid yet...waiting on incomming dipstick and deep trans pan...will probably do at 20,000 miles or when dipstick comes in.
Trans...Mercon ULV only. Rear I used Ford/Motorcraft gear oil as recommended in manual.
Don't forget the fetzer valve and conooter tube maint...

I can't find a specific thread on this topic. I am retired and only drive about 4500 mi p/yr. I have taken my 2020 XLT FX2 in for service every 6 months since for warranty work, oil changes, etc. not including the pita times dealing with 2 batteries that were bad or due to tech ignorance when replacing the 1st when they may not have not reset the BMS. I digress. My question is...do they automatically include the scheduled maintenance checks in the 23 point inspection to include scheduled maintenance items for your vehicle mileage? My paper receipts only show a 23 point inspection and a "Courtesy Inspection", the latter, for which I cannot locate an itemized list anywhere online or, what it means? I recently bought a Flood Ford Premium Care warranty for 10 yrs/75000 miles and if anything happens I don't want them to go technical on me when it comes to a future claim, with the excuse that I didn't follow scheduled maintenance per the manual when I told the advisor to do so. My FordPass indicates "Scheduled Maintenance" performed in history. Am I cool? I'm a stickler for documentation but Since I didn't record the conversation with my service rep, is this a problem? My dog! The technicality killed the cat. Should I xl this warranty so this won't screw the pooch downline? Thanks for any insight offered. Cheers.

Hey since everything else was being done why not include flushing the power steering, gonna be a lot of presents under the tree at a least one service writers home. I had 2 qts of power steering left from back in the day and ended up using it as bar oil for my chain saw. Saw seemed ok with it.

Sounds like you’ve lost confidence in your service department. I believe it’s time to change service guys.
