  1. Finally did it. Bought the Maverick

Actually, my Ranger is Lucid Red also known as Rapid Red. It's the only red vehicle I've ever owned. Love it. Yours is Ruby I think which I like a bit better. Rapid has a slight orange tinge in the sun but it looks oxblood in cloudy weather. It's like having a split personality truck.
  2. Finally did it. Bought the Maverick

Congrats! I have a 2020 SCAB FX2 in the same color.
  3. Transmission finally died

Sorry to hear this. I have almost 19k on my 2020 XLT Scab FX2. I do have a 10yr/75000 Ford Protect ESP. It's a bit temperamental at the 1 to 3 at times even though it's been flashed. I plan to have the trans fluid drained and replaced at 30K. That semi issue is scary. I drive easy and stay in...
  4. Ford Ranger EV Seemingly Confirmed As First Low Cost Vehicle

It creeps up on later year models. 2024...4,203 to 5,325 lbs. So you were correct but only some trims. My 2020 FX2 Scab XLT would probably be on lowered end. Love my truck though it only has 18,870 miles w/10 yr 75000 mi. Ford Protect. I'm 66 and hoping it will be my last vehicle. I can't...
  5. Ford Ranger EV Seemingly Confirmed As First Low Cost Vehicle

Here is what I found online for 2020 Ranger...3,922 to 4,441 lbs
  6. Tailgate sealing recommendations

My 95 Ranger had a great fitting tailgate. The engineers at Ford totally failed on the 5g Ranger. You can fit a shoe sole, maybe two between the tailgate sides and the bed. Where are their heads? UTA?
  7. Gap when Tailgate is Closed

My only 95 Ranger had a much tighter gap. I don't know WTF fored was thinking. You can see lots of daylight through it and if parked nose down in the rain it pours in. Terrible engineering. Ford should provide a proper weather strip made for this truck. Just one more thing that is a no brainer...
  8. Slow Sales

My dealer keeps contacting me to buy my 2020.
  9. Front USB Ports Stopped Working

This just happened to my right front usb port yesterday in my 2020 XLT FX2. The left side was still working. I tried cutting off the ignition and removing the key and waiting for sync to shut down. It still didn't work after a restart. After sitting overnight, I just tried it again and it's now...
  10. How much does Ford charge

I too thought a flush was not recommended since it can dislodge junk. I have the extended warranty which makes me nervous to not use the dealer. Using a 3rd party tranny shop could cause Ford to blame them if something goes south and deny a claim but 1000.00 is ridiculous. I plan to do it at...
  11. How much plastic is in your Ranger's body?

They are indeed aluminum. I was in an accident with an older lady that drifted into my lane before I could react. She lied and claimed I hit her. No witnesses and my insurance skyrocketed. I digress. When I had the minor damage to the front left fender and bumper repaired, Ford no longer made...
  12. New Decked midsized

I have a 2020 XLT FX2 Scab. I have contemplated this system. I concluded that since I only would utilize it only for camping, it would limit storage on top of the platform using a tonneau. Can't afford both it and a midsize cap. I already have 6 Front Runner storage boxes that won't fit inside...
  13. Ford Maintenance Schedule, things to stay on top of.

I can't find a specific thread on this topic. I am retired and only drive about 4500 mi p/yr. I have taken my 2020 XLT FX2 in for service every 6 months since for warranty work, oil changes, etc. not including the pita times dealing with 2 batteries that were bad or due to tech ignorance when...
  14. hankook tire sidewall issue? anybody else?

Have this issue with the black outer tire layer peeling off to expose white. I have never in my 55 yrs of owning cars have I noticed this on any tire I've owned. I think these are cheap Korean rubber. Will replace them with another brand when the time comes.
  15. Extended warranty, the pro and cons, which is better? Ford extended warranty or aftermarket?

I'm about to pull the trigger on the 10 yr/75,000 Granger or Flood warranty. I drive very little being retired and probably won't hit the mileage but with a few problems I have had under the original warranty and the temperamental tranny, I feel bettet. I sincerely question a lifetime warranty...
  16. Save Battery Message

2020 FX2 I had a similar problem. Was also receiving 'Vehicle Charging' from ASS. The battery was bad so it was replaced. Problem started again. Even with using CTEK trickle charger. Took it to another dealer. It appears the BMS (battery manage sys) was not reset on the 1st replacement since...
  17. Very Short Battery Life?

Update...Had a 2nd battery installed under warranty and no more problems 5 months in. Either it was a bad batch of batteries and/or the bms wasn't reset after the 1st replacement which is my suspicion. If you are experiencing this issue and need a replacement, make sure the bms is cycled to...
  18. Another transmission thread (yay)

Yep. Mine too. I have zero confidence this tranny will last. So much so I'm debating a trade in. After a 3rd battery that seems to have corrected the charging issue, I have a chirping sound which I think is pulley/belt issue on startup as well as a squeaky front suspension. This XLT is a 2020...
  19. Transmission fluid level

Good idea. Thanks again. Too bad we can't trust our dealerships.
  20. Transmission fluid level

Thx. So is that already on the bolt? I thought there was a short dipstick for checking fluid level per other posts.
