Hi all, first post. I'm trading my F-150 in on an '22 Tremor Lariat. Truck is supposed to arrive next week to my dealer. Been driving the F-150 for years but just getting up to speed on Rangers. Anything I should look for before I sign the paperwork? Common issues or gotchas? I saw some of the more common TSBs and the recalls, anything else you guys recommend? Thanks in advance, and looking forward to getting into the forums.

First- look over the widow sticker.
Some of the 22 builds got blessed with the ASS delete
But some of the 22 builds also got shafted out of the LED headlights and got the standard Halo’s installed
Also some of the 22’s did not get hood struts they got the standard hood prop.
I have a 22 with August 22 build, this was a ordered truck, I knew about the ASS delete at time of order, the rest was not disclosed until the build was complete and I took delivery.
So I added the struts and swapped the headlights over to the way I ordered it on my own dime - was not cheap.
But so far my truck has not shown any of the issues other owners are having.
Transmission, Window Leaks, Buck / Surge etc
This forum has lots of valuable information on various issues that may come up.
Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new truck.

Thanks for the info. Looks like mine was a DEC '21 build. It has 35k on it and I saw a video of it running and it seemed ok, I'll get a better look when it shows up. No mention of ASS on the window sticker, I'll check on the struts. These are the headlights, I think they are the LEDs?

Those are LED, it may have been a dealer order for their lot, if so it will most likely have the ASS (Auto- Start-Stop)

Not specific to the 22 model, but I'd find the threads about the damn shuddering epidemic on here. It got me with my 19 real bad.

And most importantly, you will need to post pics when you get it. Just trust me on that one.

ASS can be disabled easily.

If available get the Ford ESP since that's a loaded truck.

Build date suggests a pre-CDF drum update on the 10R80 transmission.

Thanks for the replies. I thought the Rangers had 10r60s? 10r80 issues is a big reason I'm ditching the F-150. I'll check out the shuddering, thanks!

No ASS deletes on any of the Tremors if I remember correctly

I just bought a 22 Lariat (501A) Tremor back in August with 16000 miles. I think build date was 5/22. Mine was only missing the hood struts. Otherwise my truck has been flawless. I don’t have any of the issues some people are having.
I owned a Ranger back in 2001. They are great trucks! I’ve had a few F150’s and a Ram Rebel. It was just time to go with a smaller truck. You will like it. Just check it over really well and drive it to see how it responds. Congrats!

My 22 Lariat Tremor has a build date of 1/22, currently at 31,000 miles.

I got the LED headlights and Auto Start/Stop. No hood struts, but I do have the mount balls for them.

Issues:
- I had one door handle that was plain plastic instead of painted, fixed by dealer
- Rear driver side shock mount bolt was loose. Tightened it up myself.
- Rattle in passenger seat isolated down to the lumbar support. Fixed myself.
- Sync system drive filled up, fixed myself and applied an update. Make sure you're on the latest software and that will take care of it.
- Weird quirk with adaptive cruise that has happened twice.
- Tranmission fluid was about 3/4 quart low.

I did end up buying a 5/125 ESP from Grainger Ford earlier this year. The issues I've read about with the 10R80 was the deciding factor. However, I have NOT had any issues with the transmission other than it's annoying lazy shift strategy.

Overall, its been a great truck so far.

You may want to check for water intrusion to the engine bay, which collects in the rear spark tube. I don't have this issue on my '22 Lariat Tremor but others have reported it.

No, 5G Rangers have the same 10R80 as the F150 and many other Ford vehicles. The new 6G Rangers starting in MY24 will get the 10R60.

What kind of problems were you getting on the F150? Some here seem to think 10R80 transmission problems were mostly on Rangers.

Since you are getting the Tremor, the shutter on take-off may not be present as the Tremor uses CV joints rather than standard U-joints at the axle.
