I cannot believe in 70+ posts there wasn't a single reccomendation to LS swap their truck.
I am disappointed in all of you.

That come back never gets old!As long as Toyota keeps replacing rusted out frames I guess you'll be just fine.

400,000 Rangers sold / 16,000 forum members = 4% of ownership, with a handful of failures. Yeah, a plethora of problems. I'm not saying that my trans or engine wont blow before 100K, I'm just not going to worry about it.If you find me one that makes it past 100k without replacement, I'm all ears. So far there are 0 to my knowledge. Its a fast, fun, and capable truck. It isn't reliable.
NO VEHICLE should need a head gasket or EGR valve - for the life of the motor. Its commonplace here. Feel free to bury your head in the sand by all means - but dont deny the plethora of examples. I'd still have my ranger if the engine held together, but you shoulnd need to buy an ESP on a new vehicle as a guarantee. It should just work to 200k at least, with no problems.
don't forget to shave down that 4% to those who actually post. Of the 16000, there's a lot of zero post counts.400,000 Rangers sold / 16,000 forum members = 4% of ownership, with a handful of trans failures. Yeah, a plethora of problems

You're not wrong here! Fluid Film every fall and a good rinse after driving on i70 seems to be keeping it in nice shape though! As long as Toyota keeps replacing rusted out frames I guess you'll be just fine.
Even if you say there have been 4 trans failures on this forum, that equates to ~100 out of 400K. . .don't forget to shave down that 4% to those who actually post. Of the 16000, there's a lot of zero post counts.
That's 0.025%, not 2.5%, 0.025%. Ford wont bat an eye unless it's 5-10% failure.Even if you say there have been 4 trans failures on this forum, that equates to ~100 out of 400K. . .
While it isn't very many, it is should still be in the back of someone at Fords mind as to why these transmissions grenade for seemingly no reason. . .
Heck, if I was the trans design manager, I would want to know WTF is going on for my product to self destruct.
I understand that.That's 0.025%, not 2.5%, 0.025%. Ford wont bat an eye unless it's 5-10% failure.
And remember, this trans has been in millions of vehicles since 2017.
Because it is not directly related to the engineers annual bonus plan.I understand that.
It is a infintesimally small percentage.
If you designed something would you not want to understand why it fails, even once?
yes, and they do. There are a few TSB's and a redesign of the CDF drum. So, Ford acknowledges there is a problem.I understand that.

It is so true, S or towing, and drive it like you stole it and it shifts smooth. . .While the" failure" rate may be small , the "Holy Crap!!! This is the harshest transmission I've ever owned" rate is 100% in my world , keep her in S and always drive like im late (usually true ) and she shifts like a champ , any other scenario is unpleasant at best and "did i just get rear ended ???" at worst ... still wouldn't trade it for any other truck out there, as of now anyway...
Mine is still a little rough in tow , and the WV hills confuse it , it will lock up the rear wheels on some and chirp the tires , so i just use sport and go go GO !!! its just me in there anyway...It is so true, S or towing, and drive it like you stole it and it shifts smooth. . .
When I try and drive conservatively it is just confused and seemingly bounces up and down gears with no real sense. . . .
I use tow mode when I am in traffic - I like to use the engine to slow the truck instead of the brakes. . .Mine is still a little rough in tow , and the WV hills confuse it , it will lock up the rear wheels on some and chirp the tires , so i just use sport and go go GO !!! its just me in there anyway...
