What does it weigh and are your tires and suspension appropriate for it? Thinking most run of the mill 8 foot campers are way too heavy for a Ranger.I have this camper that is 8 foot. I'm thinking with the tailgate down I could use it with my Ranger.

That does not sound terribly strong.
None of the above. Don't mean to be a dick, just vehicles in motion are exposed to...forces. Those forces will increase the further away you are from an axle. The tailgate isn't exactly designed to support dynamic loads, and neither is plywood, or most camper shells.
And then you can get in arguments on the truck camper forums where the SRW F350 guys INSIST that you do not need a dually F350 for the loads! SRW guys seem to have access to some sort of new math or something. Forget proving that they are wrong. The math is simple. Ranger payloads range from ~1560 - 2100 lbs. Two adult humans (300 lbs), full tank of gas (114), and 150 lbs of assorted luggage or whatever equals 560 lbs. 1560 minus 560 equals 1000. There is no slide in out there that weighs under 1600 wet. Most are much more. And that equation does not account for dogs, beer, little bastards and all their associated crap, etc etc.
If you want a slide in, buy a super duty, they're actually designed for that job.
BTW, guy in the pic ran that truck overloaded for a couple of years. Now trying to bitch that FCA won't warranty the repair. Camper he's hauling will barely be ok on a gas powered dually. How do you like the CX Evolve so far? This is the one I am thinking of but heard there are issues with some of them. Doesn't seem like too many people have them yet. How's the fit of the curved glass against the tailgate? Is it a pretty good seal?
