OK , the Maverick is a truck. I consider it a mini-truck but the real question is which one of these is more of a Mustang ?

Honestly, I'd take the Rangstang; I just can't stand the way the E-Mustang looks like every other CUV out there, and it's not even supposed to be one.

Also nice if you're off road and need to jack the vehicle up in that you can use anywhere on the chassis as opposed to just the jack points.
Is that the case on the Ranger? I thought the manual said otherwise, so just trying to learn more...

IMO, with a bed equals pickup. With a frame is a truck. But I won’t argue with someone if they want to call a unibody a truck. SUVs with frames get called trucks too and can be better off-road with greater break-over and departure angles. Heck, an Expedition will tow more than a Ranger.
There are people who argue that anything isn’t a ‘real’ truck unless it’s a heavy duty, has an 8 ft bed, can only sit 2 comfortably.
Buy what fits your needs and is in your budget. Don’t worry what others think.

this is way too level headed of a take for this forum

It defies classification, is it a truck or a UGO (unidentified ground object) but did hear it goes into production soon.
You were close. It is 3 letters. But those letters are POS.

There are a couple of threads here and of course a ton of information out there, especially with regard to using a high lift jack and rock sliders (if it'll support weight of your truck on a rock you should be able to lift a vehicle by it). I think the stuff in the manual is mostly about balance so Ford isn't liable if an unbalanced vehicle falls on someone rather than strength particularly as it applies to using the bottle jack to replace a tire. Of course your mileage may very but I've never had an issue lifting a body on frame vehicle by the frame.

Can't wait to see a range test towing 14k, maybe the sages over at TFL will entertain us
Its all about claims and credibility.
Remember the press release, when they were touting the unbreakable glass, and "well, maybe that was a little too hard"
When you boondoggle that so bad, can you really trust the claims on range anymore??

Agreed. If using my floor jack under the frame to lift one side of the Ranger causes the frame to bend, what would that say about the frame design?

Only rotated my tires once so far, and used my floor jack at the Ford indicated spots. Really only to drill into my head where those spots are so I'll be ready for road side tire changes. Next time? One side at the time.

On another note, back when I owned the Nissan POS (Frontier NISMO) I routinely used my floor jack to lift one side at the time. No issues. None. If that POS could handle it, then I have less than zero concerns about my Ranger.

@HoosierT posted this back in 2019. He has Shrockworks sliders but sadly the company is out of business now.

This is how I look at it base on capabilities, such as the Maverick.
250HP, 277 torque, 4K towing, 1500 payload.
That's a bit more than my '99 B4000 or a 4G Ranger, and no one denies that the 4G Ranger/B series are trucks.

Dang that's pretty good. I'm definitely remembering this one. I also like the term 'Ute that the Australians use for their Holdens.

Not sure this has anything to do with unibody, but the lack of real 4x4 on the Maverick is a negative IMO. Granted, most people buying a maverick won't care, but, yeah.

In the midsize segment I see what feels like a lot of irrational hate towards Honda for some reason. I'm not sure I get it. I saw a GFC Video (~ 7 minute mark) where they pan the Ridgeline as a "topless minivan undeserving" of their product, yet they make a version for the Maverick???

EDIT: Just noticed they make a model for the Ridgeline, but still feature that video on their page. I couldn't find a picture of one though.
