A work colleague's husband has a 1998 F-150 with 326,000 miles on her. Runs like the day he bought it.
They are best friends, and he says he will never get rid of her...

That’s back when stock vehicles came with cigar lighters and ash trays!

My 97 Ranger that cost all of 11K new had 287K on it when, believe it or not traded it in for the Gen 5 I’m in now. I use to miss it, but not anymore!

You talking about the vacuum system and the fruit juice can vacuum canister or the oil filter on the air cleaner?

Best,
Phil

My 97 XLT had WAY less problems in all the time I owned it (to 250k miles), than I've had with my 21 XLT. Basically, zero problems with the '97.

My '21 -- purchased new, factory order -- is a total lemon, and is constantly in the shop for all kinds of problems.
And it's only at 8,000 miles.
They don't make them like they used to (even including tech complexity)

Safety factor aside, I'd switch back to the 97 in an instant. The 5g has been a letdown... But admittedly, anything else than a 5g ranger would be even more of a disappointment based on everything i've heard, so is still the best option.

And the 5g safety is a big benefit indeed:)
