I think it's all just posturing.
Its what the world is made of right now.
Every internet warrior wants to be the one to start a trend, quash a rising, stir the pot; all for likes, cred and some weird obsession to be liked.
Look around here, probably in 85% of the threads is someone trying to speak louder about why they think x is better than y.
Who flipping cares.
If you don't want a unibody "truck" don't buy one.
You nailed it. Posturing, and the male ego lol.
There's people driving F-350's who think an F-150 isn't a real truck. F-150 owners who think a Ranger isn't a real truck, and Ranger owners who think a Maverick isn't a real truck. There will always be someone out there looking down their nose at someone else.

Sooooo....by your definition, this qualifies as a truck.......
Has a bed, and has a tailgate.....

OK , the Maverick is a truck. I consider it a mini-truck but the real question is which one of these is more of a Mustang ?

PLEEEEESE....do not include that "E" in the same photo group with real Mustangs....it is an insult to the Mustang Brand !!!!! Slapping the Mustang name on a make believe electric suv doesn't make it a Mustang.
You shall receive 40 lashes with a used, real Mustang spark plug wire, from a real IC Mustang engine !!!!
None pictured are "true" Mustangs.....can't be "more of a Mustang" Either it is or is not !!!!

Well if you do have the need to hate something or someone not having a legitimate frame is a good a reason as any. As to my own take on it I prefer to pity Ridgeline and sante Cruz owners and the Maverick simply fails to impress me. Where I live all the cool/rugged image projection folks are opting for the Bronco, quickly making the jeep wranglers passe.

the only car this century I've had to retire because of mechanical issues was a honda ?‍♂

reputation is like what they say in commercials: "past performance is no guarantee of future results"
I do have a strong hesitation about Honda's from personal experience as my sister and brother-in-law have Honda sedans and one of them is always in the shop for something. Neither of them are mechanically inclined at all so I never know if it is in the shop for a major problem or just a weird sound that I would investigate myself. Each car is in the shop at least 2x a year if not more. But I also grant that the reputation is not from nothing, they do make good cars.

Hold up, I saw one of these at my home depot recently. Was this a real vehicle at some point? I thought this dude had done the conversion himself.

except for when they don't. reputations these days are mostly made from marketing and memories of things from a different time.

The latest gen Ridgeline was in my sights...until I verified that the 3.5 V6 still used a rubber band instead of a chain.

I just need something that can haul about 3k on a trailer or thereabouts. I saw Old Blue and fell in love with the color. Took her home.
Yeah, I forgot about that! Changing a timing belt on a transverse mounted 6 cylinder every 100K miles can't be any fun at all. Watched a video and it looks no harder than changing the belt on my 93 Miata.... still no fun at all.
