Sadly , no...
If that's the case, if water seeps past the boot, then it must trap water in, no? And wouldn't the appropriate grease around the boot help?

I guess it would help ,although the boot really doesn't go all the way to the threads, but if you fix the water leak then no need ...

I haven't been able to determine if I have a leak, but I don't see evidence of it.

Hey everyone, I’m looking at replacing my spark plugs as I’m reaching 100k miles on my 2019 Ranger. I’d like to know how necessary do the boots need to be changed out? What am I looking for that would determine they should be replaced? Any help or info is greatly appreciated!
I changed mine at 36k. Mine's a 2020 without the engine cover. Lots of rust considering I don't drive through a whole lot of rain (DFW , Texas) or go mudding. It is parked outside and I run it through a carwash a couple times per month.

I see these posts and think there could be an innovative solution for this. A complete re-think and redesign cover of a water shield and sound dampening sandwich.

Two pieces of metal and a hydrophobic insulator in between.

Get it below $200 and it might be a winner - better than the deleted factory cover.

OP - Please post pics of 100k spark plugs when you end up doing it

Would like to see how they look. Changed mine at 17k to colder plugs, going to swap them in about 10k when I hit 50k
This!

Yeah, I remember the first time I changed the oil in Ol' Ferd The Fantastic Ford....I came out on the other side of it all, but it was touch and go for a while there....

If you are doing it yourself, I'm glad you have a 4 day weekend coming up, it's tighter than a mouse's ear in there.

I would also suggest that you do whatever it takes to find your Zen space and be prepared to go there several times in your head as you try to remove the OG filter that was presumably tightened by an Orangutan on PCP, who had so far only been trained on the righty-tighty part of the equation. Ugh.

Godspeed to you, let us know it all goes...:fingerscrossed:
I thought he was changing the plugs for the first time, not the oil.

Interesting carbon difference on that left hand plug.

It's been a while since I looked, but I thought Ford recommended replacing plugs every 30K miles?

Actually, my manual says every 100K, but the service interval on my Ford App says 30K

In that pic. left to right is rear cylinder to front, it seems like more water gets in closer to the front of the engine.
Do you have a close up comparing the porcelain on the spark plugs? That left one doesn't look good from the angle in the picture.

If you are talking about the orange discoloration. That is a Corona coloring and is normal. That is actually quite mild compared to some I've seen. It is actually on all of them you just can't see it because of the rust.

Glad he got them all out without issue.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I meant the porcelain around the electrode and near ground strap on the combustion chamber end.
