Mine too.

Running the latest Sync version.

It's been fine for months.

Now all of a sudden, I've had to give mine the 2-finger salute more times in the last 2 weeks than in 6 months prior.

OTA updates are off.

These electronic gremlins give me far more pause about this truck long term than any mechanical issues.

It’s been 3years and I checked again yesterday and still no updates. Occasionally I’ll have a glitch but no big deal to give it a two finger salute.

No one on this board has a Ford Connection to share this multi user issue?

I am having the same issue with the Radio ID 0. Weird that we are all having the same issue at the same time.

Agree

I hope someone can reach out to Ford and get a software patch in the works.

Back in my Focus days there was an issue where the the radio would default to AM. Issue could only be fixed by have the ACM updated by the dealer. Issue started after a Sync 3 update.

But that was a long time ago and it only happened to cars that didn't originally come with sync 3

There is a chat feature on Ford’s site for Sync issues that I have had queued up a few times, but work calls have consumed my days lately so have not had the chance to try it.

I don't have any issues with mine (yet)
But it appears from some of the descriptions that an automatic update somehow was started to the truck and never completed, the system is attempting to reboot but cannot, this the loss of previous truck off sync settings, Sirius, FM etc.

For some it could be the battery, if battery voltage drops below 11.5 volts, when off (sleep mode) or driving it will drop the Sync system off.

Things to Do or Try:
1. Reload update (Sync) via USB
2. Master Reset (Settings-Master Reset)
3. Pull (BCM-Fuse Panel) Fuse 33 (ACM Fuse) and Fuse 31 (Sync-APIM) Module for 10 to 15 minutes, to let the modules fully power off.
4. Check Battery Voltage (Before first engine start), you are looking for (wake-up) voltage.
5. Perform a BMS reset

I know most have already tried these, but as we know the Ranger Battery is a finicky thing and it gives an array of nuisance warnings its going out, with the temperature getting warmer, the charging algorithm changed with it. (BMS System) and the SYNC system is included with the nuisance warnings.
I am pointing this out due to the fact that the OTA updates mostly occur with the truck off, thus causing a extra drain on the battery.

Good call out on the battery, mine is still the original... need to check that. Also losing the WiFi setup.

Here’s something from a fellow enthusiast @thomasm23 from the Bronco Sport forums had to say, and this is 99.999% my take on it right now:

“This is not a hardware issue. The APIM is not defective. If you are paying for this, you are wasting your money. The issue is a software issue. Logs are being created and filling up the rwdata partition. When this happens, there is not sufficient space for the settings to reside.

New hardware will cause Sync 3.4 Build 22251 to work properly. But when the rwdata partition becomes full again, the same issue will be present”

Things like this have to be headed off at the pass, but freakin’ hard to test for as well. C’eat la vie if we’re gonna be pro-active….

So how do you fix that? I can tell ya a master reset doesn't do it!

Wondering if anyone is experiencing this issue. For the past couple of weeks, when I start my truck, I've been having sync issues. First and foremost my satellite radio is not returning to the last channel I was listening to when the truck was turned off. It either goes to station 0 or just says my radio ID # most of the time. Other times it reverts to an FM station. I never listen to AM or FM radio, so I then need to change the source. Thirdly, the display setting reverts back to Auto sometimes. I always keep it on Night mode as I prefer that setting. As a note, I've owned the truck for 3 years with no previous issues. I have called Ford as well as Sirius. They have done resets and refreshed the signal for Sirius. And I have reinstalled the latest Sync3 version and done a hard reset to the system.

I CANNOT USE FORD PASS ON MY 2019 AS I GET INFOTAINMENT SCREEN FREEZE NOR CAN I UPDATE MY SYNC 3 FOR THE VERY SAME REASON. YOU MAY HAVE TO DO A FACTORY RESET TO ORIGINAL SPECS WHICH WORKED FOR ME. HONESTLY, THESE UPDATES ALWAYS SEEM TO CAUSE NUMEROUS PROBLEMS. PERHAPS TURN OFF THE WIFI FEATURE SO AS TO IGNORE ANY FUTURE UPDATES. IF IT'S NOT BROKEN, DON'T FIX IT BY GETTING A NEW UPDATE.

Not sure myself, but would like to think that a future update (perhaps the one numbered 23088) fixes it.

It’s still workable (I don’t have the black screen issue though), so I’ll just wait until a new update is released.

Update:

I took the ranger to Ford and their Sync specialist did a whole bunch of tests and diagnostics. He disconnected the battery and reinstalled the latest sync3 version. He was confident the issue was resolved and left. As I started my truck to leave the dealership, the same exact problems happened again.

Yesterday the Sync tech installed a new radio module (KU5Z14G371CDD) and so far everything is working normally. And upon looking up this part number, it shows as discontinued. So perhaps it is a known issue to Ford.

On a side note, the work was covered by my extended Fidelity Warranty. I purchased the Platinum warranty for an additional 4 years and 50K miles. I had to pay $100 for my deductible but it was well worth it as the labor and part was $973.70. The module alone is $585.

I hope this helps anyone else having the same issues.

Leads ya to believe this rwdata partition being full may indeed be the culprit. Sure is an annoying problem.
