Must have been a contractor from Southern Ontario lol. Everyone I know in Northern Ontario either has stud-able AT tires or dedicated stud-able winter tires.
okay I confess maybe I don’t know what the difference between north and not north Ontario is. I’m not from there but without throwing anybody under the bus it was south is Sudbury and north of barrie.

Payload is comparable depending on configuration, but the F150 engine choices make it capable of towing much more.
Absolutely. If towing is your priority, or comfort, it makes more sense. But for me if I needed more towing then the 7500 of the ranger my choice was the 250 for a similar price but a IDAF level of towing and payload.

lol, no worries. You were pretty north, but not really the true North.

Nothing wrong with that, Verizon has the best coverage and great prices too. (at least on east coast)
I didn’t say anything is wrong with it, but the phoneā€˜s not free. They give you a phone with a contract for a reason. Personally, I don’t enter into contracts for utilities.

Yeah, but how much per month is that contract?
I have AT&T prepaid, bring your own phone for $45 per month. No added taxes or fees.
It's only 4G LTE with 6gigs data with rollover. You can get unlimited data and 5G for around $65.

All things being equal (interior amenities, engines, tech), why should a midsize truck cost less than a full size truck? Because there is less steel and aluminum? I assume the cost of extra steel and aluminum is pretty negligible. Other than raw materials, it seems like production costs would be similar .

Tell me what im missing here. Now that midsize trucks are getting bigger and full size trucks are getting too big, I think we may start to see prices converge. There comes a point when paying more for something just because it’s bigger no longer makes sense.
So, you'd pay the same for a 13-inch pizza as a 14-inch? Afterall the additional cheese, peperoni, sauce and dough are negligible. How about for a cup of soup and a bowl of soup. How about for 2 gallons of gas and 2 1/8 gallons. The real reason mid-size trucks are cheaper than full size trucks is that people are not going to pay the same price for the smaller truck as for the bigger truck. Rest assured that millions of dollars go into market research to discover the price point for each truck size that will (hopefully) be acceptable to the buying public.

There's lots of irrelevant apples to orange comparisons. Why does a size 5 shoe cost the same as a size 12?

Yes, and I'm saying that as midsize trucks become full size, this is going to become less true.

But, "midsize" trucks will never become 'full size' as those continue to grow.
It's true, my '21 Ranger is only slightly smaller than my '95 F150, but still called 'midsize' because it is in between the smaller (Maverick, Santa Cruz) and the larger (F150, GM 1500).

I did a Build & Price on a 2024 Ranger just for gits an' shiggles to see what replacing my 2021 Ranger would cost. Here's the '21:
preview order 0019.jpg

Alrighty then let's do a 2024. First of all, you can't get a SCab in 2024 or a 6'box, at least not yet-maybe late '23 or as a 2025, maybe never. The 6' box was the whole reason I got a truck in the first place. This wasn't a placeholder truck while waiting for a Bronco or Maverick, but, as magnetic as Rangers seem to be at attracting other vehicles on here, I just wanted to see wha a replacement would cost.

The XL 101A and STX pkgs are now standard, but there is no SE Pkg, which included dual air, rw defrost Sync3 and Sirius/XM, 18" Machined edge, black wheelswheels; basically made an STX an XLT, so I had to spec an XLT to get the stuff I have on mine. Stuff that comes on the 2024 that is not in my 2021 is in italics, stuff my 2021 has that is not on the 2024 is in bold:
  • Base Price Ranger XLT: $39,490.
  • 100A base pkg: No Charge
  • Sync4 NC mine has Sync3
  • cordless phone charger NC
  • Co Pilot 360: NC
  • Sport Appearance Pkg: NC Mine has 18" wheels vs 17s
  • Manual HVAC (mine has dual control)
  • FX4 Package: $1,295
  • Base Trailer Tow package $495
  • F/R splash guards: $130
  • Bed Liner: $495
  • Manual sliding R window w/defrost: NC (mine is fixed w defrost)
  • Soft folding tonneau cover: $600
  • 400w In Bed power
  • Securicode keypad: $95
  • Destination/Delivery: $1595
TOTAL $43,695, which is $7,095 more than what my 2021 cost. Yes it's apples/oranges, but If I needed to order a truck right now, That is what I'd be looking at. For me the stuff that is on a 2024 that i don't have is not worth the money, and I'd be giving up my dual air and longer box

I understand that position. For me, I like Verizon, and since I would have to pay for service anyway, I could argue it is free.
Dish sucks as far as contracts go. I chose a level of service so I could get NESN for sports. They only give you 2 weeks after service begins to cancel, but the contract comes in after 3 weeks. NESN is charging Dish for the station. Now, I woud have to pay more for NESN. I bought the 2 reciever package, so my wife and I could watch different shows. But they use 1 reciever for updates, so it's constantly messing up with one of the tuners. In order for me to watch 2 shows uninterrupted, I'd have to buy a 3rd tuner. Contract ends in August, searching for a new provider...
