20,000 Mile Service question

When I called to book at the dealer the lady said "you can just go to Quick Lane". Despite my efforts to explain otherwise, I get the impression I'm down as an "oil change" rather than all the stuff they're supposed to check at 20k. I'm no mechanic so have no way of knowing if they've done what they're supposed to. Should I call again and ask fro clarification or am I wasting my time?

Did you look in your maintenance manual for your truck? I can guarantee that you find there isn't much at all to do at 20,000 miles

• Replace cabin air filter, if equipped.
• Inspect brake pads, shoes, rotors, drums, brake linings, hoses and parking brake
• Inspect engine cooling system level, strength and hoses.
• Inspect exhaust system and heat shields.
• Inspect front axle and U-joints. Lubricate if equipped with grease fittings.
• Inspect half-shaft boots.
• Inspect steering linkage, ball joints, suspension, tie-rod ends, drive shaft and U-joints. Lubricate if equipped with grease fittings.
• Inspect the automatic transmission fluid level (if equipped with a dipstick). Consult your dealer for requirements.
• Inspect the wheels and related components for abnormal noise, wear, looseness or drag.
• Perform multi-point inspection.
• Rotate the tires, inspect tire wear and measure tread depth.

Sounds about right to me. And yes it does have a cabin air filter

I remember going to dealer for oil changes on Hyundai. (great price and free car wash, buy 10 get one free oil changes...) They always said I needed a new cabin filter, parts and labor $97. I looked up online how to change, less than 5 minutes wwith watching video in there. Didn't need to change it until around 40k, even then it didn't look bad, still could see plenty of light coming through.

That's literally a quicklane oil change.

There is no "20k service."

Yup, they take your keys change the oil, cabin filter and air filter. Walk around the truck twice and hand you a bill for $150. All set to go…

The Quick Lane at my dealer does a lot more than oil changes. They do all the service. Its the warranty work that 'requires' the service department.

Quick Lane did the fuel system cleaner on my truck at 30k. Snake oil? Maybe, but now I have more leverage if/when I have warranty issues.
