Curious if any of you have put one of those small bass fishing boats in your bed, like the Pelican Bass Raider, the Quest Angler or similar? From the dimensions it appears it wouldn't fit width wise?

Bass Raider:
  • Length: 10'
  • Width: 4'2"

Quest Angler at Dicks:
  • Length: 8’7”
  • Width: 4’

I have the Bass Pro version and it fits fine in my 5Ft bed. Mine fits fine in-between the wheel wells. The pontoons on these small boats are narrower than the tops and are also tapered. I didn't have any issues hauling mine home from Bass Pro on an hour long drive.

That is what I was hoping for.

Interested in seeing pictures of your boat in and out if the bed. Also a link to your specific model? Looking for a 2 person boat that isn't super heavy, stable (no kayaks or inflatable) that can easily hold 2 adults and gear

its a circle. I started with a lil 10 foot pond hopper for fishing. lusted after a bigger better boat. ended up buying a skeeter bass boat with a 4 cyl mercury matching trailer. hardly ever used it. caught like 5 fish from it the entire time lol. sold it. now im wanting a jon boat again.

I never realized that a bass was so fast that a 70mph boat was needed to catch them ?

I want a larger boat to take the boys skiing and occasional fishing too. a bass boat is for someone who fishes a lot. a jon boat for fishing is always a better bet.(and for little kids can get them skiing too.)

I rode in one doing that speed, barely touching water, until he hit some wake and about bounced me out of the boat.another guy had the big plastic cooler lid fly off and I was only able to deflect it because I was shielding my eyes from the sun...

One reason they need speed is for tournements. Fastest boat to the sweet spot wins... Other than that, speed thrills...
