If you live in a Northern climate where it gets cold I have a jlt and I bought the extender which doubles its size it will condensate so bad in there from the temperature change that I have to empty it weekly it will be full mainly water and moisture

Gee I wonder why so many Rangers have water in their oil and it rises on the stick???

Draining should be fairly simple. Disconnect the two tubes and then it lifts right off the bracket and can be dumped out. I'll probably unscrew the top the 1st couple of times just to see
how much fluid is in there though.
On some aftermarket catch cans I've seen some with windows or dip sticks to indicate fluid level, though some type of remote indicator would be nice. Appropriately expensive, but nice.

The FP part has factory style quick connects... like the UPR although I haven't seen how it is removed/drained.

Funny thing about the Ford air/oil separator on install they say to use 2 screw drivers to crack the orange retainers on the upper hose , but on the lower hose fitting they don't explain how to separate the hose and it has the same orange retainer. Has anyone removed the lower hose connection yet, is their a secret????

Mine had the orange tabs on the lower and it was a pain in the ass because the fitting it goes to is also plastic. I ended up twisting the tube so I could see the lock better and used a 90 degree pick to break the tabs, then it popped right off.

Ya that helps because everythings plastic and if you break the nipple off that would be expensive. You pry the top and break the tabs and hope you can do the same on the lower, but once you do the top your commited, yikes. You notice they don't explain the lower at all!!!!!

Just ordered the B23 version, as it states it will work on 22-23 Rangers and my late 21 ranger has no sensor so it should work. Thx for the find on the B23 version!!
Did you order from benny and also please let us know how it fits I was also thinking that the one for the Broncos would work on our rangers but the picture of the hose without the sensor port looked different on the ford performance web site Thanks.

Yes I ordered from Levittown Ford, and if you read the Ford Performance writeup it says the B23 version will work on the 22-23 Rangers. I have a late 21 ranger without the sensor so I'm guessing they had swapped over before 22. Ford probably played it safe and called the B23 version for years 22-23 but some of the later 21's had no sensor on the tube.

I've read plenty of articles saying the ecoboost can use a air/oil separator (catch can) to remove oil/water from the system. Your average guy wouldn't be bothered by contaminents entering the intake as most people don't think about it or understand the concept. It bothers me quite a bit so I'm buying this air/oil separator for 2 main reasons, the first to keep my valves clean and secondly its a Ford product made for the Ranger so the warranty should stay in effect. My bet is Ford would push this product harder but your average guy would install and forget it and not empty the device.

As for emptying the device you just release and disconnect the hoses, lift the can and pour out the liquid, thats why they say to lube the hose connections with oil, a 2 minute job for me.

Thanks, I'm going to order one from benny I agree with you I think our rangers would benefit from having this I know it can't hurt.

Just curious- as I am looking into adding this to the truck as well - how often do you need to check it - and empty?

Its hard to say right now but I plan on reading some Bronco or Mustang users posts to see what they say. The hoses may be different but the body is the same on the can itself in these vehicles. I'll probably check after say 2k miles or so.

That's what I was thinking around 2k or so should be a good baseline. I might check it a little more frequently over the winter months but we'll see.

Well guys as more people discover this item I think we could have another must have item as the tailgate damper. This addon only makes sense to keep your engine running at full power. The drawback is you have to deal with the emptying of the gunk. Its not a problem for me because I will do whatever it takes to keep my Ranger in great shape. My dad was a jack of all trades , a mechanic, a plumber, an electrician etc... and the apple didn't fall far from the tree.

I still maintain an 01 Sport Trac I bought new and knock on wood it still runs perfectly. Its what I drive on the bad days in the winter as my Ranger sits in the garage for most of the time

Hey the last ranger did you get the m-6766-b23 oil separator installed yet I'm curious if it fits ok and if you removed the stock plastic hose without breaking anything.
