Need some help here — I just bought the 4 LED grill light kit from Stage 3 and am going to install it when it gets here. I know it plugs into the marker light so it won’t be on all of the time, is there any way to tweak with ForScan so that I can program the marker/grill lights to be on whenever the DRL’s are on? Sounds like a wiring nightmare I want to avoid. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Yes you can. Just enable the setting called "Daytime Running Lights Includes Parklamps" on the BCM.

After removing the Bushwackers and doing my best to buff out the scuffing from the fender flares, I’m going to take @Fordup ’s good advice and have some pros assess it. It has a few small door dings and there is a very good detailing shop a few blocks from me. They’re big on ceramic and paint correction and have a mobile PDR guy that comes to their place.

The truck looks good but it now makes the Westin side steps stick out like the rusted out sore thumbs they are :( so, I took them off too.?

Canadian winters are hard on things but I think Canadian winter road maintenance practices are even harder.

I’m not so sure I want to be dealing with blasting and painting these every couple of years so they are hanging from the rafters in the garage along with the Bushwackers.

As a result, True North is looking a little slimmer and trimmer…

I’m liking’ it. I don’t even mind the bro’ truck starter kit thing it has going on. ?

Washed it once again.

On the side note. Kärcher consumer power washers are pure shit:
- Wheels are too small
- No air wheels, this but plastic
- Wheel axle does not have any bearings, only metal rod through hole in plastic
- Hose is too short
- Hose reel does not have brake (neither reel, nor hose feed)
- Hose reel does not have bearings
- Hose reel does not have hose guide
- Low pressure
- No powercord reel
- Powercord bundle keeper is plastic and moves by itself
- Washer balance is poor and falls down when you pull the hose (so you need to flip it to backside over ground if you plan to use it)
- Washer design is poor and hose reel does not turn if used on backside
- Add on fixtures are poor and extra nozzles fall off when turned to backside
- Overall construction is overpriced cheap plastic shit

And don't get me started on Gardena hose reel... Last time I saw it, it was rapidly moving towards bushes in 45 degree upward angle.
Sooo….you recommend it, do you? ;)

Thanks. 100% DIY, https://www.eastdetailing.com/ will send you the cover of the combo you chose and the stitching items (with instructions). I watched couple of youtube videos and got it done in like 2-3 hrs. This was my first time doing something like this. It came out great imo.

Installed white knuckle sliders.. lesson of the day is that they are not a direct fit with the RCI transfer case skid plate.
Those look great Jes - and thanks for the added insight - we don’t always think about mods affecting mods that affect other mods. ?

First - your truck looks amazing! Both in the incredible mirror shine and your overlanding gear. What boxes do you use up top?

Second - I think we have the same side steps but I have the "stainless steel" ones which were rather expensive, BUT ... mine have some rust too! just a little, but still ... and New Hampshire road grime is very little compared to Canada.

I'll take a pic of the rusting I have, it's light and similar to what I see on other stainless steel, but still .... for that cost, it should be self-buffing! =)

Dang, that sounds so aggravating!

Not that you need any advice from me, but I've been happy with the Greenworks one I have. I was hesitant on an electric one, but it does plenty good. And you're so right about hoses. Any stock hoses are usually pretty craptacular. I don't know much about detailing and get my advice from IMJOSHV and Pan the Organizer.

So I have 75 feet of Uberflex hose on a nice quality reel. I also use Eley garden hose on an Eley hose reel. It was very expensive, too expensive, but it sure seems like quality and has increased the "joy" factor of detailing.

I've never been one to wash cars much, except occasionally at a car wash place (and even using their brushes!).

Now I'm a little more into it, mainly in using the stuff that Kate uses for her schmancy car. She has those pump up sprayers, totes full of microfiber cloths, and even fancy gigantic drying towels.

I do admit that I think the foam cannon is fun.

Most of my washes are just a foam and rinse - no rubbing or two-bucket method (yes, Kate even has bucket grates and bucker dollies!).

When it gets a little warmer, I'll break down and use a bucket and microfiber so that I can do at least one graphene coat this year. Now I'm not all nutty about it and won't do clay bar (not yet anyway!).

But that graphene is easy and I also put 303 Aerospace Protectant on the tonneau.

All this ranting to say - I hate having an experience like yours and I hate that cheap crap is even sold. I mean there's cheap and then there's economical. And Karcher's a big name, so it stinks that what should have been an decent pressure washer is junk - like so many other things.

Bah ... now to go yell at some kids to get off my lawn!

Thanks David - we both know it takes a lot to keep them looking good.

The boxes I have on top of my platform rack are Plano Tactical Rifle cases - 42”, I believe - watertight. They are just the right size for my gear - kind of like a swing case laying on its side.

IMG_3370.jpeg

The removable “step” portion of my Westin side steps didn’t hold up to the brine and salt on our roads. I think the stainless version would do much better but even the rest of the side step is suffering a bit - not as much. A Scotch Brite scouring pad on those stainless bits will have them looking like new.

I’m surprised your experience is different - I have a cottage on Prince Edward Island and, just like in Portsmouth, the Atlantic salt air beats the heck out of it. I’ve also lived on both coasts and know first hand that salt is the devil!

I tell you what, you work on those self-buffing side steps and I’ll try to figure out a self-detail spray applicator that uses the wiper fluid nozzles.

Oh, before I forget - clay bar your truck - it will be a life-changing experience. ?
