Congratulations Doug - it‘s really cool and as long as you have that wheel chock, you won’t need to fix the parking brake cable. ?
Goddamn you've got a good eye!

I texted my brother-in-law asking if he wanted to help out with it. He replied, "I've got the wife's work dinner Sat night but can be there around 9pm if that works for you."

I think he's just as excited as I am.

American Collectors Insurance came in quite a bit below Haggerty for the same coverage. By almost $200/yr.

Insurance is all set. Will be hitting the tag office here in the next couple of days.

Can't believe that paint can stayed on the running board for the trip home.
Looks like the bed is functional since it has tires in it. Heck, you can dump the Ranger now.?

The wife had the same comments about only needing one truck.

That looks like it’s going to be a crap ton of fun - weekend drives, quick trips for ice cream, checking out some local show and shines. I’m really happy for you Doug!

I hope you and your wife really make some great memories with it - fun! ?

Great minds think alike.

Early in the process she asked "what are you gonna do with that?"

I replied, "take you to Dairy Queen, and whatnot!"

If anybody is curious about insuring g a classic your normal provider likely won't do it.

Progressive forwarded me to Haggerty and at first I was concerned I don't stock the right kind of mustard for that.

But their quote was very reasonable.

If paid annually like I do all my policies it breaks down to only $38/month for full coverage with $20k agreed upon value, no deductible, and roadside assistance.

I'm normally the type to avoid more insurance than I'm legally required. But I figured in this case it's kind of a no brainer.
I've used Progressive for maybe 8 yrs and usually shop every 2 yrs - Progessive is way cheaper than anyone I've found.

You'll save some on state reg, used to be IIRC $25 but I imagine that's changed with all the add on fees in recent yrs.

Not sure on the cost but collectors tags in Colorado are 5 year registrations, that's nice.

BEST thing about this truck registration wise, with me living on the front range is NO EMISSIONS for collectors plates. Sky is the limit for future engine swaps.

Truck had an inline 6 from the factory. And my old man was a fan of Chevy powertrains on Ford bodies. I think swapping a 450 hpish turbo Barra engine in there would be kinda cool. But the sound of a V8 matches the truck so well.

About a month and a half in. I love this truck.

Got the parking brake cable in. I'd classify the setup as "Rev 1." All working, but needs some reinforcements to the mounting point of the junction. I trust it to leave the truck running in nuetral on flat ground but no slopes.:p

Found a high rpm oil leak at front of engine. Simple fix. The motor has a mechanical fuel pump block off and the fuel pump push rod retaining bolt was left out.

Had some high rpm misses that turned out to be sparkplug cables contacting the headers. Replaced and fiberglass booted them. Also had some high rpm lean pops, found some vacuum plugs on the carb that needed replaced and all is well.

A couple of weeks ago the aluminum fuel cell cracked a weld. Earlier this week I got done with that. Used most of the original mount, but put a 14 guage steel floor on it. Switched to a poly cell and strapped it to the floor I put in.

This morning I dicked around and fixed the front passenger parking lamp. Open in wiring, bad connection at splice. Probably won't be the last of those. Think I might call Jack @OFC Ranger in for a winter rewire!

Went out for a cruise, was gonna get some lunch. Got stuck in a little afternoon rain, I don't have wipers. So here I sit at an out of order pump waiting for the rain to stop. Hence the long post and full update.

Think I'll make this my "build thread" for Spooky.

Edit: made it to Big Daddy's hamburger stand during a lull in the rain. If any of you are ever in Brighton, it's a must stop.

Still raining, but my burger will be done soon.
