Hello I have a 20xlt and I want to upgrade my headlights to led? Any suggestions? Can I just switch the halogen bulbs with led? What is the correct lumens? And what about the daytime running lights are they separate bulbs? Again I have an xlt that has halogen headlights......

Oh boy here we go.

If you do switch to LED bulbs only buy ones with an adjustable base so the diodes can be aimed at 3 and 9 position. Also re-adjust your headlights lower afterwards.

Now prepare for the incoming posts about how changing to LED bulbs is basically the same as kicking puppies and punching babies. (which is true if you don't adhere to the previously mentioned paragraph)

Just get a set of Diode Dynamic SS3 Fogs, they seem to throw more light than my Lariat headlights. I have the pro's in amber, but get the standard white and I suspect you'll be more than happy with the light output for the time being.

However if you're going for more of an aesthetic thing, then yeah what OFC said.

You will be soooo confused with a hundred opinions here...look around on this forum and pick one conversion that you like...ask that person how it was done...

Blinding other drivers used to be a thing back in the day , not a big deal anymore since everyone does it ,
I run "SuperNova Rock Melters", somewhere around 20 Billion lumens, pricey , but worth it , most people just drive straight in the ditch when they see me coming , well , I doubt they "see" anything since their retinas are now melted, but light up the highway they do...

I know I know, this horse has been beaten dead over and over AND I've moved on from my Ranger, but this thread on the enemy site is WELL worth the read for a lot of folks here. A forum member took the time to test an absolutely incredible number of headlight bulbs. He has proved in definite with a TON of hard evidence, that there is NOT A SINGLE LED DROP IN that performs like a halogen, AND that every single LED drop in actually performs worse than a high quality halogen.

3rd Gen HID vs LED vs Halogen H11 projector headlights | Tacoma World

For those who wont click, basically the diameter of the filament is too small, and LEDs plain and simple cant get small enough or thin enough to blast the correct beam pattern. The extra thickness here makes it so the light doenst hit the right parts of the housing, and the light simply cant bounce as far outward. There are a TON of readings on this in the post, and its not special to the tacoma. Every halogen designed housing will fall under the same general rules of physics.

This was a hill I have died on with this site a number of times, LED drop ins are dangerous, and they legitimately perform worse than what you removed, no matter how much placebo you've been drinking.

Now, fight.
