Yeah, when you get to a certain age (I am 69) and have a low-mileage vehicle (we have 25,000 on the Ranger), you actually start thinking that you may not need another vehicle. Still, if I gotta go, and we all gotta go sometime,

I want to go out in a Raptor...
? Marc you might have just given me another good excuse to justify buying Raptor. Even though I'm younger than you I can tell Annie "You just never know when your number's up"? ;)

Not shocked. I took my truck in for "The Works" to get my first oil change last week and now I have a giant oil spot in my driveway. They're lazy as hell and can't even bother doing an oil change properly. I'll definitely never go back to that dealer again.

That was my first thought, too, but in practice, it probably does not make much difference...
I have noticed, through my work that most products manufactured during the pandemic have had a detrimental loss of quality

Not the kind of news we want to hear. Ford is ranked among the worst, according to the 2023 J.D. Power U.S. Customer Service Index Study. It's the first time in nearly 3 decades they've experienced a dip in satisfaction overall. Ford and Lincoln customers failed to give top ratings in any category, including trucks while while rival General Motors ranked in all top categories with its Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC and Buick brands. The sad part is, Ford ranks last tied with....RAM. :( It looks like all the recalls and warranty work have caught up with them and something needs to change fast.

IDK but it seems like ever since Farley took over a couple years ago things have started going south. Might be time for a changing of the guard. :captain:

I think the majority of it is the smaller displacement Ecoboost engines.

Yeah when the Bronco first came out they had a lot of issues with the 2.7 V6 too. IIRC the 3.0 in the BRaptor has had a few smaller ones but nothing major. Surprisingly the 2.3 had very little so who knows what's going on over there? ?‍♂

I am not sure myself. The 2.3 has been a great little engine! I have al.ost 76,000 on mine and still strong as ever!

I guess I got lucky. My 2019 XLT, aside from a heater box replacement under warranty, has run flawlessly for me. I've got 53,000 miles, change the oil every 5,000 miles and also got lucky with a real good dealer, Steet Ponte Ford in New York Mills, NY. A good service department so far. I run the truck mostly highway but work as a safety consultant in the road construction business and therefore am off road every so often. I'll keep my fingers crossed that this continues.

Mines is the same with only the same HVAC issue too. So far it's run great on/off road and flawless throughout our trips. I'm starting to really second guess trading it in because I'm nervous of anything newer.

Honestly Dave, I love mine and agree with you. I'd be afraid also. Previous to getting the ranger, I always had Chevy Silverado's, 6 to be exact as I traded in every three to four years. but the last one, I had to replace the lifters on each side and I used to change the oil on it every 3 to 4 thousand miles. I had friends with similar issues. And one of the sides I replaced was not under warranty because of the amount of miles. That convinced me to try the Ranger and at this point, I'm happy I did.

Family been doing business with same family owned dealership since 50’s. Dealership, carries full Ford line, plus Hyundai and Mazda. When comes to warranty or other issues, Ford drives them and customers, nuts at many levels with approvals and dealing with issues, compared to Hyundai/Mazda. When resolving an issue, dealer works at solving it, yet at corporate level Hyundai/Mazda is so much quicker//better, even out of warranty, than Ford. Admit, Got to point, unless replacing a pickup, just go with their other brand lines for passenger/SUV vehicles.

So glad my truck is a 2019!
So glad mine's a 2022 - less stuff means fewer quality issues! =D

And wait until you see my awesome performance milk crate seat!

I don't put any faith in J.D. Powers. I've been told they get paid for review information.
Both JD Powers and Consumer Reports seem to go between "worst" and "best" WAY too quickly. I remember CR saying the Ranger wasn't great when it came out and now they say it is either the best or one of the best mid size trucks.

I take both of these ratings with a grain of salt..... Or Four grains as needed.

Retired, work is a four letter word.
Well, had my 21 since new, and issue free so far so can't complain at all, I haven't been back to the dealer as i do all of my own work, have to justify all of those tools to the boss. Lots of accessories installed as well as wiring for towing and aux braking and other stuff, all without any problems with the CANBUS giving up codes. So I am very happy with the truck and do not plan to get rid of it any time soon. Only complaint is it could have better gas mileage.
