Meanwhile there is no real benefit to the end user other than being able to see album art and a map at the same time. Which nobody wanted or asked for.
There are many many times I wanted exactly that.

Really?

Why?

The least they could've done was put the thumbs up and down icons on the music player.

They added zero functionality whatsoever. It just looks different/better.

It would be nice to be able to select the apps you'd like to dual-boot. Like it would be nice to have an API for the Ford climate controls / interface up side by side with something.
would love this. climate controls, am/fm radio, usb drive music, a fair number of things I'd like to be able to put there. as it is, split screen is not useful if I'm playing music from any source other than through the phone. kinda lame for my last played Pandora station to be sitting there doing nothing. Let me do a swipe on that panel to change audio inputs.

FWIW, I have been visiting my daughter in Texas for the past week. She has a 22 BMW X7. The infotainment system in this car is the slickest I have seen. Besides having wireless AA and CarPlay built in you can be running both the factory nav and Google Maps simultaneously. You can switch back and forth seamlessly. You can be listening to music on Spotify and be using the factory nav. Only thing I didn't like was the factory nav gui is to busy, there is not enough difference between the road you are driving on and all the side streets requiring to much concentration on the map to see where you are.

The only time I get Coolwalk is when I am connected via USB cable. Otherwise it looks like before. Is this normal? My wife's '19 Edge has the Coolwalk looking features and she has never plugged in her phone.

@got3fords - our truck does not natively support wireless Android Auto so if you want that feature you've got to buy a product like this (I am not endorsing this product as I don't have it, I just found it for you. Definitely do your own research on this if you're interested.)

Android Auto is booted off of your phone, it's not on the truck. The truck's head unit just supports it. So all of the updates and that jazz is coming from your phone and that's why it works only when you plug it directly into your truck.

I'm assuming your wife's Edge has wireless AA capability.

I seriously doubt it. But I am not sure how to know for sure. I don't drive it much at all and she's not very techy.

I like the updated layout, but it's not available with Waze yet. I think I finally fixed my Waze stopping updating location with a Developer setting adjustment, more testing before I unset it and see if the issue returns, could just be that they fixed it at the sometime as I started adjusting GPS settings.

Does your wireless dongle device have a custom dpi setting that may be preventing AA from using the updated layout? I remember a while back there as a DPI setting in AAwireless I could set to force an alternate layout.

Sorry, I didn't mean to insinuate I had a wireless dongle. I just meant I get the usual sync screen until I plug in my phone via usb. I am pretty sure my wife's edge does not AA, she has no dongle and she doesn't even have a usb cable, and it looks like she gets the Coolwalk screen everytime.

if she does not use AA, then she does not get Coolwalk. That is part of AA and nothing else. It absolutely relies on a connection to the phone.

Pictures would be helpful.

Well color me confused. Her dispaly 'looks' kinda like my Coolwalk, split screen etc. But the only connection is the Bluetooth. I doubt I will be able to get a pic anytime soon.

My friends 2019 Explorer does not have the Nav package but supports AA. His screen is always on AA, maybe your Edge is the same?
