It just took mine a whole city block to regain propulsion, but went away when warm, so I’m going to have to leave it overnight at the dealer so they can diagnose on a cold start as it doesn’t do this when warm.
Definitely take it in. Also make sure you’re remote starting it and letting in warm up a bit if you’re going to drive it to dealer in the next day or so. Keep us updated and good luck. Very weird that once yours is warm it works fine. Seems many people here (myself included) have the weird shifting when cold but I’m really curious on what your issue is. Mine will shift firmer and rev up rpm’s higher which I guess is how they designed it to operate at cold I guess but yours won’t even pick up gears. My truck will be in soon to be looked at and I’d really like to keep the truck but refuse to beat around the bush at the dealerships. I’ll give it an honest go and if in a year or two my issues still exist I’ll be getting something other than a Ford sad to say. I planned on keeping this truck until the wheels fells off but that may be short lived.

This transmission is being used in a lot of Ford’s fleet. I don’t think we all need to have doom and gloom about its future. The true lesson here is to not baby it or drive it like an old man as demonstrated by @Msfitoy :giggle: - instead, put the pedal to floor and enjoy!

Well, the transmission itself might be used in a lot of Ford’s fleet. But are we sure the programming, torque converter size, and rear axle are the same too? A lower numerical rear axle or higher stall TC can both affect the way this thing shifts, plus the software…

Trying to get an appointment set up right now. Sucks that I’ll be without the truck for a while.

You ever get an update back from your dealership?
just a few hours ago. they still have the truck. the dealer service writer was very candid that its a well know issue for this transmission not only at dealer service but by ford as well. i was told that ford has a new pcm to address the issue. no idea whats different about it. im guessing it is the "relearn" reset. if thats the case i dont have much hope in it fixing things.
my assumptions : the programming issues and mix of leaving the factory low on fluid are turning things from an electrical issue into mechanical damage.

A lot of people have had dealers do the relearn as well as a pcm flash and the issues come back after a few miles. I believe it is a combination of mechanical design, overall transmission programing (especially the adaptive programming and cold programming that is baked into the code). The adaptive crap is the worst IMHO.

Have you tried resetting the memory and done a re-learn?

Not sure if this is the right thread to post my issue, but here goes.
I assume there's many Transmission threads on the Forum.
I'll add my dilemma to the thread. Yesterday after warming up the motor for about a minute or so I took off, driving easy, local city streets, it was a little cold out, around 45 degrees or so. At one point while accelerating the engine revved for about 2 seconds but the truck wasn't responding. Then the trany kicked in. First time since I have the truck.
The transmission's been quirky from day one, but more so when its cold so I always go nice and easy to warm it up.
Always been meaning to get it to the dealer to have the level checked and I even cancelled a earlier appointment.
Not this time, soon as I got home, I scheduled an appt . where I bought it. April 6.
I'll follow up soon as I can with what the dealer says.
My experience- this transmission is Not happy until fully warmed up.
Good luck to everyone else out there with the 10sp woes

I believe all the tranny issues are control module issues not mechanical. Disclaimer: I ain't no electronic expert. That's what trashed my 92 F 250 tranny.:frown:
My transmission's catastrophic failure occurred at highway speed...while shifting from 9th to 10th, it began randomly hunting up and down from 7th to 10th and became stuck in 9th...I selected manual and upshifted to 10th and then all hell broke loose...wrench sign came on and it became locked in 5th...after pulling off highway, it was still stuck in 5th and there was a stream of transmission fluid leaking from unknown area...yea...it may have started as software but it's now definitely MECHANICAL...

the expensive replacement is running great...

I would suspect fluid levels or a serious issue with the valve body. Factory calibration cant be thst far off.
If my goes bad I'm blaming where it all started - Sid .
