Since I'm on an EV roll today here's one of some real world experiences. The true stresses of daily driving (for most) an EV and looking for charging stations and range anxiety.

Oh And I liked the title of the article. lol ?

https://autos.yahoo.com/ev-drivers-realities-may-dampen-160000812.html

The Inconvenient Truth About Electric Vehicles,” the story addresses the economics of EVs, the stresses related to range anxiety, the social effects of owning an electric car — as in, affording one — and the overarching need for places to recharge that car. Basically, author Andrew Moseman says that EV life isn't so rosy: “On the eve of the long-promised electric-vehicle revolution, the myth is due for an update. Americans who take the plunge and buy their first EV will find a lot to love … they may also find that electric-vehicle ownership upends notions about driving, cost, and freedom, including how much car your money can buy.

"No one spends an extra $5,000 to get a bigger gas tank in a Honda Civic, but with an EV, economic status is suddenly more connected to how much of the world you get to see — and how stressed out or annoyed you’ll feel along the way.”

I just glanced at the article and it must be written by a really stupid person - most people that are truly interested in a F-150 lightning understand that you pay extra for the larger range battery - there is no deceptive marketing practices by the makers and then there was a range anxiety comment while driving thru death valley ? Really , maybe you can sell the author some dampers, the guy would likely go for it irrespective of having a tailgate or not.
And saw a comment about a larger gas tank or some nonsense, well with most ICE autos if there are options as far as engines you pay extra for the more powerful , but some of those anti EV articles are if nothing else good for humorous reading. Factually most people that buy EVs like them, some like them a lot, but of course there are always the fools who don't do their homework.

Less than 900 hummer EV's were sold in all of 2022.
The Chevy EV can't even be bought yet.
The F150 lightning was Ford's chance to be 1st to put out EV vehicle. while a good vehicle and genius move by Ford, not a great EV

When we get gen2 trucks, that are EV trucks designed from the ground up with 0 ice influence, then the comparison will be similar

The shocking (see what I did there? I should be a journalist ?) revelation that I gleaned from the article was that you have to spend more to get a higher trimmed version of EV.

How can manufacturers be allowed to charge (oops! I did it again!) more for a vehicle with more content? When did this travesty come to pass in our enlightened society?

The real question is how did an article on EVs turn into a virtue signaling treatise on income inequality?

Next we'll get an exclusive article that reveals that it actually costs more to buy the brand name pork and beans than the no name store brand and that there's a cure for pork and beans quality anxiety, and it's money.

I would provide a link to the original article, but it is behind an oppressive paywall that weeds out the poor from reading this cogent summarization of the evil we're surrounded by.

Comments from the original article:

"The experience of owning, charging, and driving an electric vehicle makes the rising inequality of America more visible in new and subtle ways"

"Fortunately, we have found the cure for range anxiety. It’s money.”

Tesla itself has sold over 3 million vehicles, 1.3 million last year, BYD has sold at least 3 million, 230 k last Nov , so there is growing demand for EVs despite the gloom and doom videos that some of these naysayers produce and not to be left out the good old boys at FOX news chimed in , next we'll be hearing from the TFL gents. And who really cares how many Hummers GM sold, it's not meant to be a large volume vehicle but a showpiece to attract media and/or personal attention.
With the technology available today EVs most practical use is for daily commutes, not taking trips through remote areas like deserts where surprise surprise there maybe no charging stations. In the early days of the automobile there were many skeptics, although some people like Henry Ford saw the potential.

First and foremost I don't watch, listen or read any of the major news stations. They're all full of S#!%!?

Because for most Tesla drivers (and EV drivers) they work great. IF you're commutes are short (er), have a charger at home, don't travel through areas that have a very long distance where there are NO charging stations and have time to sit and wait in long lines when you finally find one.

Also paying more for batteries isn't like adding a couple hundred or even a thousand dollars to your vehicle. You're talking thousands and even tens of thousands to move up to the top of the line battery. People now a days are having trouble just trying to afford an "normal" vehicle because the prices are so darn high now. Things are so bad now the average persons credit card debt has increased 15% year over year. So I'd love to see them buy an extended battery EV then spend another couple grand hooking up a charger to their home now. Oh wait, they live in a condo with no garage so now I guess after working 10-12 hours today they can now go sit in another 1-2 (maybe longer) line waiting another 45 minutes for their EV to charge to 80%. And let's just pray it's not winter time (or summer here in AZ) and they're sitting there in those long lines running the heater drawing down the battery.
