Scotty's a little tough to take at times but he does have some pretty good videos. I always run the stock filter when they're available and Wix when I can't find the stock ones.
ditto!

Compressed air is not recommend because it can damage the paper and allow unfiltered air to enter....
You would be suprised actually. In the heavy duty field of construction a mining at least there is a procedure to clean a paper air filter with compressed air. That said the amount of compressed air is limited for reasons. If limiting the amount of compressed air you can get away with it and not have to worry about damaging the filter.

So where are you guys getting your filters at? None of the local auto parts stores around me have any that fit my truck in stock. I don’t need anything too fancy.

i enjoy all of project farm vids. he seems very legit and no non sense. scotty kilmer i can live without lol. its not so much what he says it is how he acts that make me ignore him.
I like the Project Farm guy, he actually tries (and largely succeeds) to follow the scientific method in most of what he does. ie "does a $2.0 Chinese wrench work as well as a $50 one" Then sets up a controlled experiment to test both until they break. And sometimes the results are surprising. What surprises me is that he is so busy killing old Briggs engines ( how long will an engine run on olive oil vs mineral oil) and destroying various tools in the name of science, that he can't have much time left for the real "project farm" Although he did use his 40 year old Ford farm tractor in one segment "does modern synthetic oil make old engines leak" - it didn't.

Maybe he just figures the average Joe would have a vacuum vs. an air compressor.

If going aftermarket I usually use these. Ryco are an Australian company and have been around for a long time, I've never encountered a problem with any of their products. They claim to "meet or exceed OEM standards" having said that they're not significantly cheaper than OEM, just easier to get, because pretty much every Auto parts store stocks them and they're open on weekends which dealerships parts stores usually aren't.
