Now take the hundreds of thousands (maybe more) that are in the F150
As incredible as it sounds, Ford builds almost a million F-150s a YEAR..... And they've been putting the 10R80 into them for several years now - there are literally MILLIONS of vehicles with this transmission in them.

I have quietly wished that Ford/GM would just have used the ZF8 like everyone else on the planet. It is proving to be a very very good box from the looks of it. Surely they could have made do with 2 fewer speeds.
I hate to admit it but my wifes wrangler shifts beautifully with that transmission. Eager to dowb shift and keeps rpms in check while cruising.

@dtech

Ooooh round about 7 months ago they started trying to sell us their intake/T.B spacers.

The dyno sheets they provided in the thread were for a different motor, in a different vehicle.

They got called out for the aforementioned shady AF marketing technique and An individual offered to let them use his truck to do dyno-tests with... to which they replied "oh Hai thanks bro we have our own truck to do the tests with"

Months and months go by..

They still havnt shown us any dyno sheets pertaining to their products on a Ranger.

Ill just say it.. boomba is a complete joke. I'm willing to bet their R&D department is one guy doing his best to copy the products of REPUTABLE companies, changing them just enough to not get sued.

I was supportive of the outfit initially.. but after 6 months of their obvious lack of effort to actually show us what their product does on our vehicle.. I realized the nothing more than your run of the mill shyster factory.

The 10R80 begin shipping in the F150 in 2017. Starting in 2018, the F150 came with a "massive" heat exchanger located at the front of the transmission. See this video at the 4 minute mark.

I suspect that the exchanger is quite expensive., it looks expensive! You think maybe Ford figured something out between 2017 and 2018 when they added it?

Well, it is pretty common knowledge that this transmission doesn't like to be cold, so it kind of makes sense to me.

Given that they started it in 2017, I was curious, so I looked up F-150 sales numbers:

https://fordauthority.com/fmc/ford-...rd-sales-numbers/ford-f-series-sales-numbers/

2022
578,881
2021
726,004
2020
787,422
2019
896,526
2018
909,330
2017
896,764
Total
4,794,927

That is ONLY F-150s which means there are almost 5 million F-150s with this transmission, let alone the Explorers, Rangers and other vehicles. If there were a significant design flaw in this transmission, I would fully expect that in 5+ million units it would be apparent.

That appears to be nothing more than advertising cloaked as "news" for a law firm honestly. I wouldn't trust anything that is stated on that site.

Connect with one of our lemon lawyers to receive a free, quick, and confidential case evaluation today to see if you qualify. Contacting The Lemon Law Experts is your first step in getting the compensation you deserve.
They are looking to add to their class action lawsuit, which will only enrich the lawyers. That is my take on it.

Yeah, I agree. Then you have this on the other side...

https://www.hotcars.com/10-speed-transmission-why-best/
If that article is correct and I counted right, I counted 19 different vehicles the 10R80 is in between Ford and GM. Again, if it really were that bad, you'd be hearing very definite reports of issues. All I've seen is anecdotal and/or sporadic reports of issues, nothing endemic. That has to encompass tens of millions of transmissions.

It does have it warts (in my experience its cold shift behavior is obvious), but overall, I think it is an engineering marvel.
