Why did you pick the Ranger over the Tacoma?

Towing! Was driving a 1 year old Frontier that strained towing our 16’ travel trailer in a head wind. Talked to my friend who is the Service Manager at a large Nissan dealership here about upgrading to a Titan. He asked why, and when I said for towing, he immediately said “domestic”. Started researching full-size pickups and began looking at Rangers and realized the 5G did everything we needed and fit in the garage. Very happy with the outcome!

Got to say, for me ads aren't even on my radar when evaluating a vehicle for potential purchase.
BUT.... That's not all the ads are for. The other reason is to put a product on your radar so you know it exists. You may not want to eat Trix, but at least you know "Trix are for kids".

It's easy to find out when Toyota-thon is cuz Jen keeps telling us. Ford tells us constantly that the F150 out sells everything else, but they NEVER tell anyone that the Ranger has some best in class features. It's almost like they don't want anyone to know!

A few weeks back I did have a taco blow me off at a stoplight, gave me renewed faith in the old saying "every dog has its day" and it is the season of good will and peace on earth, so I embraced the spirit - much like snoppy did in the classic holiday tune from those rock n roll gods the royal guardsmen:

Yes and although some are not influenced by ads many are and research generally shows many folks need to see an ad multiple times before it makes an impression, hence the massive spending by some makers, I believe gm and toyota spend the most. Is is Jen i always thought it was jan.

Hilux, Ranger, Landcruiser,
My fleet management job and personal experience directs me to Toyota or Ford as my only considerations for a pickup that I buy for myself.
This truck, I wanted 4x2 gasser extended cab.
Would have preferred a compact truck but nobody offers that size any more.
So comparing Toyota to Ford of similar size, hp and capacity is their jackass PreRunner version, so thats eliminated right there.
Ford it is. Better price and specs of Ranger sealed it.
Btw,
The '03 Hilux my Ranger replaced has a 2.4 n.a. motor what produces 1/2 the hp of Ranger at only 1.5% better fuel consumption.
In fairness, Rangers design is about 25 years newer technology...

One thing I never understood was "higher resle value". If both vehicles were equipt the same, and sold at same price, then it would make sense. But equipt the same, and Toyota sells for lets say $7k more, I'd expect it to have a higher resale vaule. But why would I want to pay more now, to maybe get it back later.
