I like the power, looks and fuel economy. I've had my 2019 a little over a year. Before me, a manager at one of the other dealerships they own had driven it. It was immaculate and I assume maintained regularly. I've put 18K on it.
Battery went out at 2 years, but the dealer replaced it under warranty.
I don't like the rake, but took care of that with leveling.
I have a few Tacoma's that leave our neighborhood to get on I-17, they tailgate me through the 25 MPH zones and even the 45 MPH zone. They'd do 60 through all of them if I wasn't in their way.
But we hit the on-ramp and a few seconds later they're just a dot in my rear view.
I don't think the body panels or tailgate are weak or dent easily, but the paint does chip easily.
I did the brake fix in Forscan and the pedal is firmer now but still on the soft side.
Like everyone else, I don't like the solid bench rear seat or the storage under it.
The console lid is small. Due to constraints from cabin size, I don't really expect it to be bigger, but
the foam in it is terrible. I plan to replace that 1/4" - 3/8th" worthless foam with something that won't compress under the weight of a Q-tip.
My XLT came with the small screen, sucks but I thought it wasn't a deal breaker.
Was surprised to learn that there is no Sirius/XM tuner in it. I thought every vehicle made in the last 12-15 years had a Sirius tuner built in.
I put a couple thousand songs on a thumbdrive, but when inserted into the middle of the cubbyhole below the two 12v outlets, it sticks out right in the middle and makes it hard to put anything else in it.
And the two 12v outlet covers are often getting flipped open when I reach into the cubbyhole, one day I'll probably snap one off.
My XLT has a big knob for the fan and another for the temp control, so I don't have to fiddle with the small buttons.
But the rest, defrost, bi-level, etc. are a pain like other have said. You have to remember the light for the button you want is on top.
The armrest controls for the window, door locks, etc. seems too far back. And when exiting I often scrape my toes against the plastic panel above the pedals, w/size 10 boots.
I am 5'11" and 180 lbs. The truck doesn't feel small at all, except for those two issues above.
My truck shifts smoothly except for morning take off, it tends to jump from 1st to 3rd harshly.
After that , the ten speed has worked superbly. It's nice to be going down a back highway at say, 60 and see that you are in 10th gear only turning 1500 rpm.
The great things about this truck far outweigh the little gripes, I hope to have it a long time.
