And you green new deal wennies are only thinking of driving around in your little bubbles. This is a truck forum. Some of us do "work" with their vehicles. Let see you haul a dead tree to the dump in your little battery powered truck. One little twig at a time. The real inconvenient truth.
Checkout the eDumper. Largest Electric vehicle in world. weighs 110 tons fully loaded. powered by 4.5 ton electric battery. They don't even charge it. It uses regenerative braking when going down hill with a full load to recharge the batteries.

Electric vehicles use the roadways without paying any road use tax. Road use tax is included in the price of every gallon of gasoline sold. ICE drivers are therefore subsidizing EV's. But don't fret EV folks the government will eventually get around to figuring this out, when the population is sufficiently committed to EV's.

On top of all the other subsidies.

This is what I don't get. I understand that the market will eventually move towards electric, and that's fine.

But right now they are ridiculously expensive. Why should I help buy some rich guy's car?

Not entirely true, at least in SC. After I got the hybrid in 2014 I was surprised to get a second tax bill so I called the SCDMV and found out it was because of the hybrid. Every year after this was a separate line item.

Most states have or are beginning to implement an electric vehicle tax due to lost gas tax revenue.

gas has tons of subsidies too.

Idk what you consider expensive but my 19 ranger was only 4k less than my 19 tesla.

Ohio just increased license plate fees from $50 to $125 to off set it a little. I pay around $350 in state an fed gas tax in addition to the plate fee.

California an Washington have talked about taxing by the mile driven to recoup the lost gas tax cash.

Model 3?

You can't compare a truck and a compact car.

Your Model 3 was $15-$20k more than a comparable ICE vehicle.

Yes, gas is subsidized. But not directly to the consumer.

Corporate drone. Dilbert's world is alive & well.
Also, putting climate change in quotations is a huge red flag for this post.
Yep. Very first thing I noticed. Set the tone for the rest of the points.

How long are we going to kick this dead horse?
Not one single opinion altered here. In 8 pages and 115 posts.

We can talk gravy! Went well in the other thread! Just a thought!
Poutine.
I thought it morphed to gravy from mashed potatoes. Turkey stuffing is better.

I remember when LCD TVs 1st came out. A 20 inch screen for $25,000. Ouch!

Today they are cheap. And cheaply made.

So... what kind of quality will we see with cheaply made EVs in the future? Not looking forward to owning one of those.

I buy all vehicles new and drive them until the cost to repair them is well over their value and what I can get insurance to cover them at. I have a ‘98, 2016, & 2021 I plan on driving many more years.

I don't see a big drop in price until they create a battery that uses cheaper, more readily available components. I read where MIT has built a few prototypes trying to make a cheaper one with equal or better range.

A large scale shift is still decades away.
