I've never heard of a BMS reset. My ranger has almost 36K on it, I got in Dec 2019. I always get to work 10-15 minutes early. I listen to the radio an plug my phone is an read the news for 10 minutes or so. Lately the truck has shut the radio an charger off within 3 or 4 minutes of turning the key off. I reset the BMS this morning before leaving for work an it didn't kick it off this morning early.

Noooo not the presets!!!
The most painful thing to reset!

But like trying to remember all the phone numbers of your favorite people to program in your new phone. Anyone know more than 5 numbers of their favorite people to call?

I've heard of devices you plug into your 12v output when disconnecting the battery to save the memory. Looking for one I came across this:

I replaced the battery today and all seems well, but I could have sworn that I had read in the past about something needing to be reset or something?
Hi HPRZ.

Yes....sweep up and properly dispose of the messy electrons that spilled from the battery cables in an approved method/container....

Best,
Phil

Might sound dumb asking a few of these but ?‍♂ Ohhh well. What exactly is BMS? And what kind of life have you guys seen outta the factory battery? What have you all replaced it with?

Just curious why you replaced the battery already? Did it go bad?

I have a 20 and my battery died yesterday morning with no warning. I suspect I just had a factory lemon. I will be trying to reset the BMS system after reading this post. I would have never thought about that, but I am having no problems after replacement.

While not a difficult job, changing the battery was not as easy as I had hoped. small connectors and one cable had to be disconnected before the terminals could be removed and my strap bolt had a little corrosion on it, I need to anti-seize that bolt.

From my Owner's Manual:
CHARGING THE 12V BATTERY
Battery Management System (If
Equipped)
The battery management system monitors
battery conditions and takes actions to
extend battery life. If excessive battery
drain is detected, the system may
temporarily disable certain electrical
features to protect the battery. Those
electrical accessories affected include the
rear defrost, heated/cooled seats, climate
control fan, heated steering wheel, audio
and navigation system. A message may be
shown in the information displays to alert
the driver that battery protection actions
are active. These messages are only for
notification that an action is taking place,
and not intended to indicate an electrical
problem or that the battery requires
replacement.

Which battery to replace the factory battery is similar to asking which brand of motor oil to use or which tire, or brand of gasoline is best. Everyone has their own opinions. (I use Duralast batteries. :))
