Just a quick glance as it drove by, but you can't miss those headlights. First one I've seen in the wild. Will have to watch for it around town.

I've seen several - but both Rivian and Lucid are in tough financial waters.

Living in OC (socal) I see them all the time...first saw it back at the LA auto show several years ago...this is the ONE electric vehicle I would own. They are awesome. That truck gives you everything...range (400+ miles with extended batt) 4x4, and supercar speed (sub 3 sec 0-60). So, if i can afford one in a few years...I will get it. I love the size as they are just a tad bigger than our Rangers and still appear to be smaller than a taco.

I could see there being more in socal. Here in Wisconsin they are a rare sight, sort of like a Ferrari.

I've seen one R1T once, on the Belt Parkway in Brooklyn coming off of the Verrazano Bridge. They are a sight, no doubt. From what I've read about them, Rivian seems to have done a good job on their design. I think it's still early for them though, to gauge long-term quality.
I have had an electric before - a Chevrolet Bolt. I'm sold on electric - it just works. I'd do it again, when the right car/truck comes around. The Bolt wasn't it for me. Don't get me wrong - the powertrain was fine, and range was fine, and charging time on a Level 2 charger (I installed one in my garage myself) was also fine, but that's all the Bolt was - fine, for a commuter car....a commuter car I leased in February 2020 exactly one month before my office was closed (permanently) for COVID and I no longer had a commute.
I do still have a boat that needs something that can tow it around from time to time (and my wife's MKX did the job but...), hence now I have a Ranger...that I wouldn't use to commute, but since I don't actually have a commute, I don't feel like I'm doing too terribly on the environment with it. I've had it a month, and I don't have 300 miles on it yet, but it has already done its job and pulled the boat out of the water.
But back to the Rivian - I think the idea of an electric truck is great, and I would have considered the F150 Lightning if not for its size (too big for me), wait time (I only saw the first one around here at the Ford dealer last month; have yet to see one actually on the road), and price (too expensive, especially after they took the price hike this year). If the Ranger had had an electric option, for me that would have been a no-brainer.
There's a good chance this Ranger might be the last ICE-only car I buy. We're thinking about replacing my wife's MKX next summer, and while that's still a ways off, right now the Corsair Hybrid is the front-runner. If something else comes along, hey you never know.

Agreed the headlights are an eyesore on an otherwise decent looking truck.

There are a few around Atlanta. Like the looks of them, only truck I would consider outside of a Ford.

I live in their HQ city and see both variants all the time. Including their Amazon delivery truck.

Back in July I was coming home from Syracuse NY when a Rivian went blowing by me like I was standing still. Latter I pulled into the Sturbridge rest area on the Mass Pike for a pit stop (have a truck with a 400+ mile range but my bladder only has a 250 mile range ?). Anyway the Rivian was there plugged in getting a charge. The wife/girl friend was in the passenger seat with a disgustingly board look and the driver was out side impatiently pacing back and forth.

That seen was enough to convince me I am not ready for an electric vehicle
