@AzScorpion … this man needs a t-shirt!!!I pledged my allegiance to the deezee cult long ago and still haven’t gotten my tshirt. What does a true believer need to do?
You can't compare what mechanics do everyday to what a customer wants. If a customer is too lazy or cheap to replace a hood strut, it's on them. But I am sure they would rather not have to use a broom handle.I'm "sure" you were.
Please don't judge me...... But I am sure they would rather not have to use a broom handle.
I just used a 1x4 as a prop for the back hatch on my Shagin' Wagon till I finally bought a new set of struts. I knew of one tech who just took the whole hood off to do the job and didn't really put much effort into making sure it was aligned when he put it back on. Customers are cheap, I worked enough of retail to know that. It's why I finally walked away from it. Got tired of telling people their crap was broken and pay a little now or pay a lot latter to hear No. Then get a complaint because they said No and now have to pay a lot more when they could have paid a little. You can't compare what mechanics do everyday to what a customer wants. When I was a kid and did stupid things like that my Dad would always say it didn't kill you so it made you stronger. You have to learn every truck won't have a damper when you are young.OMG , how tall is your kid ? They could have been decapitated if it had fallen down to neck height too quickly !
Thank God you have a damper . If it just saves one life !
I can confirm that at -42C the tailgate will not drop with the damper…. I had to pull it down with a decent amount of force to get it fully open. Here in Canada when it gets around -10 to-20C, the damper is slow as molasses, other than that no complaints
A lot of things don't drop at that temperature.I can confirm that at -42C the tailgate will not drop with the damper…. I had to pull it down with a decent amount of force to get it fully open.
Other that that, very happy to have it installed.
True enough, most things aren’t too happy when it’s that’s cold. But on a side note, my Ranger has been the best cold temperature vehicle I’ve ever owned.A lot of things don't drop at that temperature.
I’m still torn….I thought when I posted this it would be heavily one sided in favor of dampers but boy was I wrong! When I was researching the ranger I saw several videos where they unlatched the tailgate and let it drop from upright which In thought was ridiculous because literally every tailgate I’ve opened in my entire life I eased down to the bumper so it’s not like it’s a muscle memory thing when you’d frequently do it by mistake. However it’s 2022 and it’s a pretty cool thing to have. I work for a big box retailer(7.5 years) and have loaded many a truck with lift equipment and have can count on one had the ones ive seen dampened. So for me it’s kinda like a luxury feature…..which is still niceI put a damper on my F-150, but it was likely a bought on Amazon Made in China special as it only lasted a month or two before failing.
Since I’m used to opening and closing an F-150 tailgate without one, I probably won’t bother putting one on my Ranger.
I got it. Now watch, as soon as I post it, he will show up.@AzScorpion … this man needs a t-shirt!!!
