Thanks for posting that Gooby ( Gooby ? gotta be a story there)
I guess we need to call the "Lariat" Cluster the "Lariat 501a"

Anyway I always have the digital speedo in the center on mine - exactly 9 miles over in NC and you are "safe"
IMHO the analog gauges always look better, even if they don't get used much (Tach on an Auto Trans? But useful for idle RPM, and like I said I use the digital speedo)

The Lariat 501a ?cluster "productivity screens" look way to busy to me.
Yea, there is a story, and it involves a lot of alcohol from my younger days. Lol
I didn't care for the 501A cluster either. The deleted items worked in my favor for once.

One of the reasons I wanted the Lariat was for the dash (among other things). After having a 12 Focus, 13 Focus ST, 15 Mustang and a 17 Mustang that all had the same dash that the XLT has I wanted a dash that was more modern looking.

I am not sorry for my decision but I am disappointed the right productivity screen can't be configured to show anything useful about the engine. The three choices you have are all redundant to what is on the Sync screen. It would have been nice if you could have a choice for a boost gauge like the tach with a couple of bar graphs like water and fuel for oil pressure, A/F or voltage.

Absolutely none, I even went with the 301A package over the 302A. My Wife and I aren't fans of leather seats and I wasn't a huge fan of the Lariat dashboard.

I went with the Lariat for...

A. Keyless entry and push button start. Once you have a vehicle where the key only goes in your pocket in the morning and out at night it's hard to go back.

B. LED lighting. Self explanatory, no vehicle should be sold with halogen headlamps in this day and age. Hell, my milktruck has LED headlamps.

C. Seats and more importantly dash. I know it's not real leather, but the dash pad looks so much better than hard plastic, and the seats are easier to clean.

D. Engine cover?

I am super happy with my 2020 Lariat. I really don't have a complaint with the dash cluster but it sounds like a lot of people do. I do like the leather seats too and the slider window. The slider window is nice since the Ranger has no sun roof. I like getting some air flow and the slider helps in that regard. The LED headlights are fantastic and I added the Diode Dynamic yellow driving lights awesome. Just my thoughts on two years of ownership.
I agree. I love everything about my Lariat. These are the best headlights I’ve ever had. I don’t mind driving at night now.

I have had a Focus ST, two Mustangs and now the Ranger with push button start and they have all had a key inside the fob for backup. I can't imagine that the Explorer doesn't. The older fobs require you to use a coin to split the case like you were changing batteries to get at the key, not a push button that lets you pull it out of the fob.like now. Also, in the case of the Mustangs they had a body colored cover over where the key hole is in the door handle that has to be removed.

FWIW, just looked up an 18 Explorer user manual and the backup key pops out of the fob just like the Rangers does.
I just ripped open a 16 Explorer fob and there is a skinny key inside. Go figure. It doesn't even come apart too easily either. Strange world we live in.

I think we can all agree on upgrading to black 1pc lug nuts and adding the tailgate damper.
We will never all agree about the need for a damper ?.

Push button start. Don't have to take my fob out of my pocket. Do you all remember when you had two keys? One for the door and one for the ignition??

So I currently have a 2023 Lariat Tremor with 500A on order. I'm beginning to have second thoughts because of the uncertainty of getting the LED headlights and fog lights. It's pretty much the only reason I ordered the Lariat. And I would hate to have to walk away and start a whole new order. I'm considering dropping my order to an XLT Tremor with 302A. It would save me $1500 which would probably end up being the cost to upgrade to LED headlights after the fact. Not really interested in any of the aftermarket LED headlights. And I would probably go Diode Dynamics for the fogs.

So outside of leather seats, push button start and power folding mirrors, is there anything major I would be losing by dropping to the XLT with the 302A?? I know there are some smaller changes like ambient lighting and body colored exterior bits. But it seems like most everything else standard on the Lariat 500A is included in the XLT 302A

Did any of you regret going with an XLT over a Lariat???
Unless that $1500 is going to change your life, just leave the Lariat order. It's a nice truck and leather is easy to clean.

I still use one! Keep my house keys on it and don't need them always as I have a keypad deadbolt.
LOL I need a key for my truck (only one of 3 that has a key) and I don't need a key for my house!
