It's still not quite on the level of content Spotify and Amazon Music has and you can't choose songs or albums, but they have a lot more curated channels and within those, they have a lot more songs/artists
That's what i love about Pandora. Being able to choose a song, or album, or especially, an artist directly. There are times when I want to hear just a specific artist, or an album, but mostly I play artist based stations rather than genres.

No fiber in my neighborhood - yet. I have a daughter who has basic 300GB Fiber optic service - I'm impressed as she gets constant 300GB speeds up or down. I'm lucky to actually get 1GB download and usually less than 50GB upload - the nature of the beast.

Edit: should be 300mb speeds......
I usually get quite a bit faster speeds than I pay for. And typically synchronous (same upload/download speeds). Since AT&T upgraded me to the 500mb service, I usually get about 600mb in reality.

Hardware is 1GB capable, but that's blisteringly fast and I haven't found a need for it. Even considering that I have half a dozen security cameras with cloud storage, use streaming for my primary television, and so on. It really hasn't been an issue when I've needed to video conference work meetings, either. There have been a few occasions where I set up multiple camera streams (desktop, laptop, and a phone propped up somewhere) to provide full coverage of the house for a bit, and upload/download speeds haven't been a limitation on doing stuff like that.

I'd generally rather stream music, anyway. I've taken to wearing noise canceling headphones when I'm out mowing the lawn, streaming from Pandora usually.

At least Pandora audio quality is good! Commercials yes on the free version but I only pay 3.99 a month for no commercials and HQ audio. Much better deal than XM and sounds better, can skip songs or create my own "stations".

Our family are the rubes that keep these services in business. If I totaled the monthly cost of our radio, tv, internet, iPhone insurance for my wife who suffers from dropsee, it is definitely more than our first home mortgage, including insurance and property taxes.

i got some time on my hands in the next few weeks, I think I will go back through this thread and use everyone’s how to’s on rate optimization.

I bet I can save enough to pay for those AMP steps. :)

I completely agree. I tried all of the streaming services, and I liked Pandora best for their artist channels. Overall, I think that they have the best algorithms. I also have Sonos at home, and I almost exclusively stream Pandora or some of the SiriusXM channels through Sonos when I listen at home.

I also get Apple Music as part of my Apple One subscription, so I tend to use it when I want to listen to a specific artist or album, but Pandora’s artists channels have introduced me to a lot of great bands I would have likely never known about otherwise.

A lot of my highway driving is through rural areas where I sometimes lose cellular connection, which is another reason I like SiriusXM in the Ranger over streaming. The only downside is the 18 channel limit on favorites and not being able to move through all presets quickly through the steering wheel controls. I used to have about 30 favorite channels in my Volvo prior to my Ranger.

Renewed Sirius 'Music & Entertainment' Package today for the annual fee of $78.12 (same as last year's introductory rate). Renewed the service on both of my vehicles for $156.24. Took 2 phone calls to get a correct invoice/receipt. :sunglasses:

Their customer service over the phone w/ English non-accents … are horrid.
Love the Sirius radio, have it too. Use it constantly.. but if I need or want anything I don’t think I can understand around 80% of the ones I talk too (ie- receipts, signals, whatever).

Don't forget to download the app so you can stream all the channels/songs they have licenses to stream but not broadcast - there's way more content on their app than what's available from the satellite feed. You can't use it in the boonies but if you're getting cell service, you're good to go..
They have a streaming+ car and a streaming only option. You'd think they'd have a car only option and it would be cheaper since streaming gets more channels and more songs and I'd think uses more bandwidth.

Hey wait a second. I know CarPlay has a XM app. Wouldn't it be better to just getting streaming only and just use CarPlay for XM if you were one of those people who just pay what they say pay? I'll have to look at the interface when I get later.

Still calling and getting $6 plan is the best option if you can get it, which I guess I'll let yall know in a few weeks?

Ok I just went to ChickFilA and decided to try the XM app in CarPlay. Not too bad...glad I already had my favorites setup. I was listening to XM broadcast first and then went streaming. I did notice that the channel I was listening to was probably 6-7mins behind the broadcast just by the songs they were playing. Not a real issue unless I wanted to listen to a ballgame on a trip, couple of buddies and boss all text during the Vols games and hate for them to spoil it via text(yeah I have siri read my text while driving :like: ).

Also when I got out to go in to pick my food up and came back out to the car and plugged my phone back in, the song started where it left off.

It integrates in CarPlay pretty good. I normally leave my screen on the Map/whats playings/calendar screen when using carplay.

I'm still gonna try and get the $6 deal for everything though HAHA

I don't even use the Android Auto app for when I do it - just Bluetooth lol

I cannot fathom any reason to buy sirius when apple music and its contemporaries exist, offline playlists doesnt lose coverage every time you go under a tree with moderately thick foliage you get to pick what you listen to, satellite is inferior in every way and way overpriced.

I loved XM in mine, but half the time it didn't work. I'd have to turn the truck off, restart and sometimes it would then pick up XM. Cancelled
