I know the f150 raptor runs 3.0 Fox shocks but I also know the bronco raptor runs 3.0s as well. Since the bronco is running a slightly modified t6 frame this got me thinking, can I put 3.0s on a ranger? Has anyone done this and if so how extensive is the modifications needed for this?

Hard to say but let me ask you thus, what are you doing that makes you think you need a shock that big?

In all reality for what most on here do the biggest you really need is the 2.0 type shock. Unless you are building a pupose built type truck for the BAJA with extreme travel you wont get the full benefit of a shock that big.

I myself simly do trail riding with my Pathfinder(did the same with the Ranger before it bit the dust). With the Ranger I had the basic Nitrocharger shock from Old Man EMU and they felt nice for what i did. I will.be doing the same on the Pathfinder in time. I was looking to get the BP-51's for the Ranger and those are equivalent to a 2.0 in size and out perform most 2.0 shocks thatnks to the design.

Put simple you really have to look at what you do and figure out what you really need instead of waisting money.

This will be my second 5th gen ranger and the goal is to build a truck that’s a great daily but can also do prerunning duty’s. I would love to fit a 3.0 despite the massive price difference but I’m not sure it’s possible.

I have yet to see 3.0 shocks for the front. Biggest I have seen are 2.5 with external reservoirs. You can get 3.0 for the rear.

Are these trucks even big enough to have a 3.0? I feel like to get anything out of them you would have to valve them to perform like a 2.0 or 2.5.
Exatly why I said that wothout extreme travel type suspension there is no real way to get the full benefit

The 3.0 will have better dampening at high speeds than the 2.5. Plus there is a larger oil volume so it will build heat slower. If the OP truly wants a Baja style truck then the bigger the better for those impacts. Might ride like crap at low speeds tho.

What brand offers the 3.0 for the rear?

At the point of needing 3.0 shocks is when you no longer order model specific shocks. You give them the dimensions you need or find one that fits those dimensions. Have to check for axle clearance as well first because of the location of the lower brackets.
