Who else wasn't a huge Ford fan before the Ranger? I have a one ton GM sitting in the Driveway and a big Kia. My project/race car is going to be a Hyundai (yes I am nuts). My last Ford was an 87 LTD more than 20 years ago.

That 2.3 won me over and back to the blue oval. Super happy with it now that the initial bullshit is sorted out.

Who else liked other makes but the Ranger got you sucked into the Ford brand?

I've had Chevys, Fords, Toyotas and Jeeps......Problems with 'em all! Wife had a Ford Fairmont which was biggest junk-pile on wheels I had ever seen or driven. Had 2 Ford Rangers and have to say they just weren't up to par. Chevy?......Never again!

Wife's Chevy Cruze got a bad water pump last year. -20° and drove it to who was open.....Ford Dealer. Traded it for a 2020 Escape with the 2.3L. She's had it for over a year with no issues. I love that engine.

Did some thinking.....research.....and more thinking. Ended up dealing on a brand new '22 XLT. Very happy with it so I did get sucked back into the Blue Oval products because of a bad water pump!

I've had many fords. always been a fan. I've had a few GM products. The most reliable GM I had was the ugliest an had very few options to fail: The Lumina mini van! I had twins an 2 older kids an it fit the bill. When married the ex bought a brand new honda it was OK.

I've pretty much always been a Ford guy. Sure when I was younger I had all sorts of vehicles but I'd say since the mid 90's pretty much all I've had were F150's and E100 vans for business. I'd buy new ones every 3 years so I've had my share and they've always ran great and NEVER left me stranded or had any major issues with them. When I moved out here to AZ the Ranger wasn't back in the states yet so I had to slum it with a Taco.:puke: So glad in 2019 it came back and I promise not to stray again.?

The whole famdamly are Ford people because dad and brother were Ford mechanics. They refused to work on anything else. When my mom remarried she started driving Cadillac. She once handed me down one and I strayed for a couple of years. The last few times my wife and I flown and rented cars they were Cadillac. If I was stray again it would be only be for a V-Series Cadillac.

My grandfather worked for an oil company and helped manage leases. He always had Fords, and he put close to 300K miles on his baby blue, four door 1964 Ford Fairlane 500 while visiting leases all over Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas. He traded it for a 1983 Ford Ranger which eventually became mine for a few years when he bought a 1989 F150.

My grandmother had 1973 Ford Torino GT (cool grandmother) before a series of Ford Crown Vics.

My dad’s first car was a 1957 Ford, and when I was a kid, he drove a late 60s Ford F100 before he t-boned a dump truck that ran a red light. I was only 3 or 4 years old, but I vividly remember busting my lip on the metal dash since we weren’t wearing seatbelts. He replaced it with a Ford Courier.

My mom for whatever reason was a GM fan. Her first car was a 62 Chevy Bel-Air, but the first car I remember her driving was a two-door 72 Buick Skylark which she eventually traded for a Pontiac Bonneville.

So, yes, I grew up in a Ford family, except for my mom, and I desperately wanted a Mustang when I was a teenager. Unfortunately they were already out of my price range, but I found a great deal on a 66 Oldsmobile 4-4-2 convertible.

I’ve since owned all makes and models, some good, some bad. I loved all the Fords I owned, but none as much as my Ranger.

I worked at a GM dealership as a kid in high school and drove an Explorer. Took a ton of crap for it, but it kinda solidified me on liking Fords. I’ve had several since then and plan to keep my ‘09 Escape even after the Ranger comes home. Other than new tires, TPMS sensors, brakes and pads and replacing the throttle body myself it’s been a rockstar. Her name is Silver Fox, and she has treated my family well.

I have no allegiance to any one brand. I buy the best vehicle at the time that meets my needs. I needed a new daily car due to my current car becoming my dedicated track car. I needed the ability to tow. I only wanted a mid size truck. For towing Ranger won out. To me the engine and powertrain is the best part about the ranger. It also happens to be a solid truck and with its age it should be reliable. Looks are good and the value is there compared to others in the segment. Custom order was the last good point. I got to get exactly what I wanted and nothing I did not want.

I always drove VW vans as a kid and Honda wagons (Civic, Element, etc.) as a young adult because they were cheap, fun, and got good mileage. My first experience with a Ford was a rented Explorer while our Honda Element was in the shop with a blown clutch. When I first picked up the wife (she does not drive) at the train station after her working day, she sat in the Explorer and said, "I feel like a queen in this thing, what is it?" And that was all she wrote! Our very next vehicle was a 2014 Ford Explorer Limited, the naturally aspired 6-cylinder with the Sony music system. We loved the comfort and power of that vehicle, and I would have bought another one, but when Ford brought the Ranger back in 2019, it seemed to be everything that I liked about the Explorer and more: more power, better sound, more clearance, bigger tires, etc. Some people say that the interior is too old-school, but that just made me feel more at home in it. The wife was not really into the Ranger at first, but now she loves it too, and we are definitely going to get a Ford next time around. I want to get another Ranger (Tremor or Raptor), but the wife wants a Bronco hardtop, which, frankly, yeah, I could live with one of those. Our current Ranger only has 20,000 miles on it, so we have some time to decide... Anyway, we are a Ford family now, for sure and, since we are each pushing seventy, for life.

I have owned Ford, GM, Mopar, Toyota, Mitsubishi and VWs in my 55 year driving career. All of them have had minor issues and all but the Toyota and Mitsubishi made it to at least 100k before any type of issue. The Toyota Corolla was by far the worst vehicle I have ever owned, starting at about 50k something failed monthly until a rod came through the block just over 100k and I dragged it to the junk yard. The Mitsubishi was second in issues, only good thing about it was the Chrysler 904 automatic it had.

I consider myself to be a Mopar guy and after having had 3 mostly trouble free Dakotas I would be driving one right now if they still made them. I like the Ranger and have no regrets buying it. My previous cars were a 15 & 17 Ecoboost Mustangs. I bought them over a Challenger because they were a better balance of performance and economy plus the v6 Challenger was not available with a manual.

When I was in the market for a family car in the 80s. I looked at Ford. Ugliest interiors, foam looking seats, layouts all wrong...
Fast forward tob2020, I can't believe how far they have come in 30 plus years...

I have had over 50+ cars so far in my life. My first Ford was a 1968 Mustang with a 428CJ, then a 1967 Mustang with a 428SCJ, a F100 Ranger, 2007 Shelby GT(1 hillclimb record), 2014 Focus ST(2 hillclimb records), 2014 Ford Escape, 2017 Ford Escape, 2010 Mercury Mariner Hybrid, 2015 Lincoln MKZ. Now my 2020 Ranger FX4. So I guess I have been mostly a Ford guy.

1st car was my '72 mustang back in '78 . Loved that car but I think most end up with fond memories of their first ride . I've had a lot of cars as I was always a car fanatic and when I had my business we purchased a new car every 2 years . The wife would get one then 2 years later I would trade mine in so they would average about 50 k miles over keeping it 4 years . I strayed a few times but always came back to a Ford . The wife has been in a MB since '97 and we've had excellent service out of those . I bought her a used '92 model in '97 with 130k on the odometer and it was such a good ride we traded it on a new '99 that we kept until her latest one in 2011. It's time to trade that one in and I'm trying to convince her to switch over to the Ranger when the Bronco comes in . She really likes the Ranger but it's gonna be a hard sell ,LOL .

Not me, been a Ford guy since I went to work at a Ford dealer at the ripe age of 21, (back in 1982) got hired as a porter/car washer, which is pretty funny being a long haired stoner white guy, the other porters used to laugh at me because I worked barefoot, but I easily outworked them.
But before I left that dealer, I went from a porter, to front end tech, to heavy line, then to heavy truck, then to service advisor, then to service manager, that took a lot of years.
Been pure Ford since, even during the 20 years with Honda, it's too bad Honda doesn't make a truck (sorry the Ridgeline is a minivan with a bed) otherwise I may have considered one, almost the whole family drives Honda's except me and my son, we both have Rangers and love them.

Same here, man, the wife was not excited about the Ranger and sort of humored me since I really wanted one. It took a while, but she loves it now, especially the part about looking down (from the leveled truck) at the "puny" cars alongside, as she calls them!
