Getting vinyl to adhere to construction grade wood is... uh interesting.

I gave it a coat of paint to sort of help be a pore filler to assist adhesion, but definitely a lot more work than using vinyl on metal to get it to properly stick. I'm sure there are products designed to make this work more easily, but I just used what I had on hand.

I’ve had really great success with this product. Pretty expensive stuff, but once it is stuck down it won’t be coming back off.

Looks good! Paint as a sealer isn't bad, flat paint can be tricky but some sheen helped me in the past. I made a sign last year and had to stick a vinyl lettering saying on it so I sanded the face, wiped off the dust then masked off the area and sprayed satin lacquer on it and sanded between coats then applied the letters after the last coat. I needed to leave the rest of the board raw wood so I could glue items on and then clear coated everything after.

Quick little shallow planter box from some left over WRC after making an Adirondack patio set for my sister last season. Been rainy for a few days so needed a quick indoor project.

Need to finish sanding and apply my uncles oil/wax concoction.

So from another thread. I had a lot of fun learning how to upholster for the first time. Of course with practice I'll get better, but it did not come out too bad for amateur hour at the Jack Garage.

I am going to be redoing the back wall on my truck rear seat platform in something similar. I don't think I am going to attempt to work with wood and vinyl again, I will probably do upholstry on everything on the back wall portion.

The carbon fiber is a nice accent, but in retrospect it just wasn't worth the hassle. I ended up using Mod Podge as an extra adhesive element and it still was a PITA.

This piece of wood and upholstry will go on the underside of the driver side floor hatch in connection with the hi-jacked cubby holder for electronics. I know this is a wood working thread, but I've come to love electrical wiring on a hobby level.

It is all secured by 4 heavy duty steel L brackets (not pictured):

Kind of idea on back wall, same concept, but with swing up hatches at a full 90 degree angle. I will upholster, then attach the molle panels on the top. I will also add molle panels to the underside of the hatches and the inside compartment. Pouch storage for days.

Thought I’d randomly post progress for a new project as ordered by the Geezer household CFO.
Scope of work: Supply and install new countertop and cabinets in a currently unused space under the stairs. Supply and install electrical outlets as required for microwave and assorted small appliances.
Budget: <$100

Scope of work: Supply and install new countertop and cabinets in a currently unused space under the stairs. Supply and install electrical outlets as required for microwave and assorted small appliances.

If there isn't a mill photo in the future I'm gonna be disappointed.

Mill is on my list this year. But I'll need to pull the trigger in the next few weeks to ensure delivery before end of season. Not sure I'd use it this year or even down the trees I'd mill due to other projects, but at least I could get it assembled and ready for next year. Too many things on the plate for this season, 1.5 miles of roads and trails, gun range, tree platforms for future zip line(s) to tree houses, and a greenhouse / shed are all on the chopping block this year.

A few chairs from last season found their forever home. Can't wait for the natural cedar petina to set in for that rustic look.

Nice work! I’ve got A bunch of cedar that has to come out that is 3-6” dbh that my uncle wants some for turning along with some serviceberry . Always wanted to get into it but never found the extra time.

I have two rooms in my house that don't get much use right now. I keep the doors closed (keep pets out) and close the A/C vents in them. Kind of want to open my house back up fully.

I'm cruising YT and I see the concept of dutch doors with hollow cores. I am thinking of doing this minus the bar top portion usually added to the bottom half. It looks like it as simple as as cutting the door in half, filling the open gaps with a piece of wood. I am looking into a single 2-part split hinge so I just have to replace the middle hinge instead of adding two new ones.

Am I missing anything? Seems pretty straight forward.
