I know the topic of the ford bronco ordering situation has been beat into the ground but today I saw a bronco for sale at a Buick GMC dealership. So when i got home i decided to Google it. Now tell me how does a Buick GMC dealership have 8 extremely marked up broncos that are "used" with all about 300 miles?

That really pisses me off.

im not sure what they call it, but i heard dealers had pawns place orders, never intending to keep them
the deal is they take delivery, sell it back as a used vehicle. the pawn makes some cash, the dealer now has inventory, although slightly used and sells if for a markup

ingenious idea really
That seems like exactly what this is.

Maybe people managed to buy one at or under MSRP; then saw what carvana would give them and didn't really need it - traded it back. If I didn't need my ranger I may have made a profit by doing that with around 1.5k miles. The issue; need the truck so trading it in would have done nothing as everything is generally expensive right now.

Dunno.. a GM dealer doesn't have to care about pissing Ford off and losing allocations.

A Mercedes dealer near me had one for a week or so but gone now. Never checked into it but suspect it was being sold as used.

Dirtballs! Why not make it an even $100,000 while they are at it?

One thing Ford does is punish dealers who's customer orders are not taken just for this very instance. I just spoke with the owner of a dealer who I'm transferring my order to and he has a 97% customer order rate and Ford is rewarding him for that with more allocations.

That was the whole purpose of this thread here as to the Order Name Match Policy that's been in place. Now did some dealers try and do this, I'm sure, but they've been punished with allocations being taken from them which no dealer wants especially in todays market. Some are going to have a big surprise come '23 when they see they're getting less.

Ford may find ways to go hard with some dealers who are taking too much advantage of market conditions, but in practice the corporate rhetoric will likely shift from allocation restrictions to other types like floorplan assistance scales.

Ford is surely aware of which dealers have been the most egregious in these turbulent market, but they also know if Mega Ford doesn't get enough product, folks probably would stop in at Colossal Chevrolet or Giant Toyota across the street before going across town to Tiny Ford, if they haven't already.

Chris this is true but the problem today is all those other dealers don't have any product to sell either. Their build times aren't much better so while many might be mad while car shopping today there's really not to many choices out there.

Wanna buy a good used car, you'll most likely pay more or close to new car prices which leaves you in a dilemma now. Over pay for a used car which will lose value even quicker once we hit a recession or sit and wait months for a new build. Then find an honest dealer who isn't going to mark them up with ridiculous ADM's. Really we're living in one of the west times to buy a vehicle and a house right now. Both are grossly inflated and hopefully this bubble is going to pop soon.

Someone needs to bring this guy back.

He'd set all this straight.
Absolutely, no better person than Wyatt Earp to get the job done!

I just recently started this thread. Bronco Wildtrack with 750mi and a big markup hanging out at a Subaru/Volvo dealership.

another interesting possibility that also covers the vehicle in my thread.
