When I got my truck, I turned everything off that had an option. I'm generally not a fan of automated systems, but planned on trying each system on it's own, when time and opportunity presented itself.

Most of the systems were tried and turned back off, but I had forgotten about the rain sensing wipers until a recent thread reminded me. This morning I turned them back on, and now I'm anxious for rain to see how well the systems works.

What say you? Do you have it on, if so love it or hate it? Is it reliable? Do they come on when not needed?

I don't have them on the truck however, my wife's Lexus has them. Kind of cool and they even speed up or slow down based on how hard it's raining however, they tend to continue to "wipe" once it has stopped raining. My guess is the sensor is still wet so it thinks it's still raining. Other than that, It's pretty handy.

only ever had them on a rental car.
i wouldn't be upset if I didn't have them, nor would i be excited if i did.

one of those meh features
I'll bet if you took some banana oil/juice and smeared it on the windshield, water would bead and run right off...no wipers needed !!!

I'll have to go see if mine has it. It has the acc and lane keeping, so guess it had auto wipers?

I'll try it on Daves first...we have to test this in extreme weather climates and the heat of AZ will surely suffice for test A.
He could develop a new product...304 Windshield treatment made with pure banana oil !!!

wish they had a speed between casual wipe and about to break off your car trying to make sure no rain sits on the window for more than .001 seconds. Not a fan of the auto setting.

My current Audi has them, and truthfully, if my FX4 won't have them on delivery (sounds like the case), I don't think I will miss them. Every vehicle I have driven that has had them has always been hit or miss on how well they work, and that effect compounds with slushy snow coming down.

In hindsight, it's a neat feature, but implementation wise, they don't work well for how often I like my wipers to actuate

What's rain? :LOL::tumbleweed:

Seriously I don't use the wipers much and I do coat all the windows with Graphene. Works way better than Rain-X and in a light rain it beads right off without using the wipers.

I use RainX, never tried the banana oil. Hardly use the wipers with rainX.
Maybe Ford will apply something & get rid of wipers for 2024? I mean, do you really need em?

I really thought this was going to be another bicht fest... lol.

I have them and they work pretty well, but not well enough that I just set it to rain-sensing and never have to touch it again. There are times where it's raining just enough to mess with my vision in certain conditions but not enough for the auto-sensing wipers to go quickly enough and I need to manually increase it. I'd say around 75-85% of the time I have it on auto and it works but there are still cases I need to manually set it.

My Ranger doesn't have them (my XLT has every available option, but I think they are Lariat only?) but my Jeep does and those work very well.

I almost always use the automatic setting in the Jeep.
