Can you pull the stalk all the way down (no intermittent) and twist the dial down to it's lowest setting to see if that helps? Also does adjusting the steering wheel (telescoping and tilt) can you gain more hand clearance without hindering comfort? Maybe in conjunction with seat adjustments)
The steering wheel and stalks all telescope as one unit.

I can't imagine how the OP is brushing the wiper stalk hard enough to turn on the wipers in normal operation, unless he drives with one or more fingers extended, or wears oven mitts.

we established his XLT doesn't have rain sensing capability
but if he did its apparently an infrared sensor up by the forward facing camera.

which begs the question from me, if you tinted your windshield, even the clear UV stuff only, would it affect this sensor negatively?
No, because all of those sensors are up in the middle of the windshield up above the rear-view mirror in the blacked out part of the windshield you can't access from the interior. I did "clear" (really 70%) ceramic on the windshield to help cut down on the heat in the cab while off-roading and have had no impacts to anything except for the auto-headlights activating a bit sooner than usual because that sensor is the red covered "nub" in the middle of the dash at the bottom of the windshield.

Although I can easily reach both signal and wipers with a finger extension, my knuckles are no where near either un normal driving grip. I'd like to see a photo of your hand driving position which your knuckles are hitting the control arm.

The signal arm is the same size and mounted in the same position on the left side so I'm curious if you hit that with your left hand knuckles as well?

Met a girl on the internet many years ago. My education and profession allowed me to move to Canada with relative ease. Although now divorced, have three amazing children and in-laws I am still close with.

Considered moving back. Then I may miss out on certain things Canada has to offer. Snow on March 28, or really any month of the year. Plugging in your vehicle. And ketchup flavoured chips. At least a left is a left here.
Michigan lefts are our punishment for insulting Ohio for no good reason.

They know it's so bad there, they charge you to leave (lol tollroads).
