Some members on here got an extended warranty for a really good price from Flood Ford. Dealer overcharges something like 2x what Flood Ford costs and it's the same warranty.

You get to keep any steaks ?
He got 50% of the steaks from the cow but that was only because he was in Omaha when he hit it. ? ? ? It’s kind of a rule there.

Bob, Sid @Msfitoy is probably out driving his Ranger and won't see this for a while. :captain: I think he's trying to rack up more miles after sitting for a few weeks due to high gas prices.?

Gavin while every manufacturer has their problems most of us here have had very good luck with ours. Nothing is going to be perfect but I think overall the Ranger has been trouble free for most of us including myself. I've owned many trucks and this is by far my favorite one. Sid will eventually see this and chime in but I know he's had ZERO issues with his and it's pretty weighted down (5,500lbs) with his RTT and gear.
I'm about to take a pic of my OD when I reach 88,888 miles...not knowing this, she looks to be near brand new and drives like it... ?

If it's like other late-model Fords the weak spot will be the transmission.
Best thing you can do for long-term reliability is change ALL the fluids at half the recommended intervals or more.
I got 212,000 miles out of my old Sport Trac with this. Trans let go at 132k anyway but like I said they're a weak spot.
Every 5000 miles synthetic oil and filter.
Every 30,000 miles rear axle lube and transfer case lube.
Every 50,000 miles transmission fluid, front axle lube, coolant, spark plugs, power steering fluid.
Change brake fluid every time brakes are replaced.

Easy and functional mods:
Tailgate damper, of course.
Console tray, as mentioned. Makes the console space more efficient.
Mountains 2 Metal lower grille insert. Looks better and keeps rocks off the intercooler.
Bug deflector. I have yet to have one that actually deflects bugs but they keep stone chips off the hood.
Weathertech floor mats.
Maybe a good preventative practice you have going there...I change my oil the same frequency but the trans will be getting the first flush around 90K...I've done the diffs at 50K...Brakes? The way they look, they appear to be on track to get me past 100K before I need to replace any pads...that give you an indication of how easy I take it with my truck...

I’m looking at buying a 22 ranger Xlt fx4 next week but can’t find many high milage examples and I put on a lot of miles as a electrician for work and want to make sure this will be reliable. Along side if it is reliable what are some helpful hints or suggestions for a new owner u wish u knew? Thank you.
If I were facing the same decision now, I wouldn't buy. Simply too many issues for a new vehicle (in my case). However, I've received several compliments from complete strangers on the vehicle. They've obviously never driven one. It just cost me $18.00 for 1/3's tank of gas ($4.09 p/gallon). I get 18-22 mpg, which is not too bad. My 2018 F-150 V-8 got around 10-14 depending what I was doing. The tiny four-banger performs OK for a tiny motor. The Ranger needs a V-6 option. It does not drive like a truck. I think it handles well with just a little body roll. The cabin is pretty quiet from road noise. I have a '21 XLT 4x4 and the stock tires/suspension is pretty good. The vehicle sits high with good clearance. It has running boards, why I am not exactly sure. It's not that high off the ground. With all that, I'd still look at another truck.

The current T5 Ranger was released overseas by Ford in 2012 before finally making it to North America for the 2019 model year. I believes this qualifies Ranger as a 'proven design'. 2012 Australian model.

Damn, i'd buy mine again in a heartbeat. To me it is the perfect size. And does everything I need it to do.
Same here Bob! I've been using mine for work for almost 3 years now, been off road with it many times and several vacations and all have been great and fun experiences. If you stay out of the boost it gets decent gas mileage (it's a truck not a Prius) and on long trips I've averaged anywhere from 24-26 mpg. Plus there's really not another good option for the mid size out there. The Tacoma needs a total overhaul, I don't like the GM twins (interior feel cheap and outdated) and the Frontier is butt ugly. :puke:

Been on several longer trips with mine and for a truck I think it is very comfortable. Getting geared up for a trip to Talladega here in month. Maybe while I am there, they will let me drive a cup car?. I mean, I have been teaching high speed driving for 20 years.....

Had about 54,000 on my ranger before hitting a cow. Before the cow the truck was reliable. After hitting the cow...... Not so much
Gotta ask - how did you manage to hit a cow and did you enjoy the meat ? No mention of cow kill though in the state regs below.

"Colorado is actually one of 27 states where it is legal to harvest meat from roadkill, though it's not as simple as taking the meat home after you've processed it with your bumper. According to Lewandowski, if you want to harvest meat from a deer or elk or moose carcass (or anything bigger than a raccoon or skunk — you don't have to worry about reporting those), you should call the nearest Colorado Parks and Wildlife field office within 48 hours and let them know that you took some or all of the animal carcass home. "Then we ask that, within a reasonable amount of time, like a week or two, you come in to your nearest office and get a permit," Lewandowski continues.

The permit is free, but will require you to describe where and when you picked up the roadkill, if you were responsible for hitting it, and what kind of animal and gender it was (deer vs. elk, buck vs. doe).

"That's only if you pick it up," Lewandowski qualifies. "If you hit something and drive off, you don't need to call.”

He posted a thread last month about it.

i believe one simple mod can virtually guarantee you get 150k+. google deezee damper. there might be others on here who have some experience with this product.
Fear the damper. It is futile to resist.
Its also what I call a gateway mod.
Once you start it’s tough to stop. Too much fun.
