If you run the K&N filter in the stock air box it will not let too much dirt through. I've run that setup for more than 50K and there is no evidence of too much dirt getting inside the box. As far as OEM being better....I think not.....MAYBE with a factory exhaust but with aftermarket my Ranger is breathing 50% better than a stock setup.
Saw YouTube comparisons back when I bought it 2 years ago.

Just installed tune from Ford's ProCal 4 tool from Stage3Motorsports. I can unplug it and drive around, right? It doesn't have to stay hooked to the OBDII port?

Do a check on the air filters. Those let too much dirt through. Comparisons show oem to be best, surprisingly.
After FP tune I ditched the K&N immediately after seeing small wire pieces and shards loose inside pleats of media. Also lots of fine dust here.

Thank you. I thought so, but wasn’t sure. I can’t wait to feel the power.
You should notice a difference and like the change. It should come like this from the factory.

So, I have the tune installed a couple weeks. Right after the install I had a trip to GA with a popup camper behind me. I like the update transmission setup and the throttle response. While I don't normally have the ProCal in the truck, if I'm towing, I found it does have a transmission temp display and I like to see that. I need to get my OBD2AA working on my phone again, then display that gauge on the Sync3 display like I had done in the past in my RS. Can get bigger and easier to read display that way.

Albert,
So it's a literally plug and play? That's my next mod in the near future.

yes it makes the truck like a whole new truck. But can you imagine the estimated gas-usage on the window sticker??I’m lucky to get 16 now
I have tuned every turbo vehicle I have owned since 1985. Once I was over the initial excitement of the tune and settled back into my normal driving patterns I have gotten the same or slightly better mileage with all of them. That includes (2) Ecoboost Mustangs and the Ranger.

The tune only effects the power at or near WOT so unless you are always driving with your foot on the floor there is no reason to expect the mileage to be less.
