Being concerned mainly with the issue of the HVAC box possibly warping on my 2019 W/7,600 miles it has 9 months left on manufacturer basic which covers HVAC parts & 33 moths on powertrain, so i will wait until it gets closer to the end.
I looked up and got a quote from AUL “Sentinel” brand.
Supreme Plus package this is the lowest month & miles available thereby the lowest premium;
$930
36 months
60,000mi
$250 Ded
I have time so i can compare.

I would avoid it if possible.
Have you checked to see which plan you need? There are some very reasonable prices. Mine was kind of high, but it’s what I needed. Your needs will probably be different.
Unfortunately refinancing would probably be my only option to get an extended warranty.

My only other option would be to put it on a credit with much higher interest than my car loan.

Like many who commented before, I don’t buy extended auto warranties as a general rule, in fact many years ago a company I purchased an extended warranty from went bankrupt ! Total cluster, no premium returned and no possibility to file a claim. Many were totally hosed, left to pay their own repairs. Every state has its own regulatory rules regarding reserves for extended warranties which often fall under the department of insurance. All I know is in Arizona I was left holding the bag.

This is a straight gamble, you pay 1k up to 3K plus deductible and hope your truck repair costs exceed this amount to prove your investment correct. You could also park this money in a separate emergency fund and simply self insure. The quotes I have seen in the above posts are reasonable, so the actuaries must feel the Ford products will hold up over time.

We are entering into a hybrid and electric era, thus holding onto a vehicle for 10 to 20 years, which I have, may not be a true assumption especially with the prices of gas climbing. It all comes down to peace of mind and risk tolerance, it is forums like this that shed light on real verified mechanical concerns.

I have 11 months and 17k miles to go before my base warranty is up. My inclination is to self insure, but will monitor your experiences and go from there.

I dont know what rate your car loan is at now, but there are some pretty good rates out there. I just did a search for my wife and found her 1.99% at a credit union we were able to join. To refi a car it will be a little more.
Zeigler ford also has payment plans but you would lose the 250.00 off. Call zeigler and flood and see what they have to offer.

Interest is front loaded on loans so if you refinance for a longer term than is remaining on the 14k loan, the real cost of the warranty will be higher. You can create amortization schedules in excel to do what ifs, dropping from 3.24 to 1.99 will only save you 175 a year on 14k the first year and less each year there after. Not thinking refinancing makes sense for you, in normal times you would not want to finance paper into car loans lest you become upside down, no worry on that today as residual values are sky high. I would save a couple hundred a month for six months and pay cash for the warranty later. Just my cents

Well….I have been debating and researching this topic for weeks now.
After MUCH thought I ‘think’ that I’ll be purchasing an extended warranty for my 19 from Flood before this years price increase on Jan 5.
I bought this truck in Dec 19 and only have 14k on it and figure when the factory warranty expires I’ll have less than 25k. I’m just a bit concerned with the low miles that something will surface once the factory warranty expires ( I know, it’s a crap shoot but one repair could be $$$) Haven’t had any real issues other than a Malfunction Indicator Lamp - electrical concern with number 4 fuel injector - which cleared itself. After reading through the forum I know there appears to be potential issues with some components (like hvac) and this has influenced my decision.
My plan is to keep Maggie for at least 4 more years as I have no real complaints that push me into the 6g any time soon.
Going with the 6 year/60k ($50 deductible) is $745. To me, that seems like inexpensive insurance in the event ‘something’ goes bad…..I was debating the 7 year/75k for $1285 but that jump of over $500 for another year just seems like too much.
With all the electronics and such I guess peace of mind for me is worth it….
I'm on the fence too but will end up with some type of warranty. Stuff just costs these days with no letup in sight.
A point someone made is that even if you don't keep the truck, the cost is partially offset by increased resale value, much like 4wd which drives up the desirability factor.
A side story is that my 21 went back to the dealer with a broken glovebox light. No abuse; just closed the box and crunch. 300 miles on the odometer and they want $70.00 to order the part! Huh? What? Warranty?
No argument from me so they'd order the part, but I'll be darned if I'm paying when it comes in. Just wanted you all to know that some sketchy dealers will try to work around your warranty. I was more than surprised when a cost to repair was even brought up. Grrr...

If you would have to put the cost of repairs on a credit card anyway, I would probably just wait and do that if you have to. Maybe you won’t have too.

I just purchased the 6-year 150k Extended Premium Care from Flood. I've never been an extended warranty person on ANYTHING but I plan on keeping this truck for awhile. I don't mind working on my truck and doing regularly scheduled maintenance but at 52 it's getting harder to do the big jobs and I just don't feel like dealing with it.

On a side note my son is a GM tech and he said the ONLY warranties worth buying are the ones from the manufacturer. He said all the aftermarket ones they look for any way to not pay.

And the flood/zeiglar are the ones from manufacture though right?

This is me exactly. I wanted enough warranty to make it until I get the truck paid off. I do plan on keeping this truck for a while. It's just about perfect for me.

Retired, work is a four letter word.
I just got a Zeigler Ford 6/60 this morning on my 21 XLT 4X4. After a $250 discount (code PAYINFULL) and FordPass points my out of pocket was $380! a screaming deal, prices go up 10% on the 5th, so if you're on the fence jump on it. Doubled my warranty period.
