since full production didn't start until first quarter 2019 and buyers were told.
Production began at the end of October 2018. Your words "full production" might be correct but I disagree that the buyers were told.;)

I thought Job #1 was at the end of November (like after Thanksgiving)? I know they produced vehicles before that, but I thought those were all for the test drive events and other marketing stuff?

But yes, the communication on all this was TERRIBLE. Many dealers had no information on a lot of it and filled in the void with whatever they thought was correct.

My apologies to all who were differently informed.
I was told that OKTB was approved on Jan 2.
I was also told back in August that preorders would be "scheduled for production to support a delivery date in early 2019".. I believe that customer orders should be scheduled ASAP after being placed, in the order received and with reasonable priority over dealer orders. Historically this has been the case.
Problem is that too many things were promised with no follow up and mixed with contradiction and misinformation. As a result, I have little reason to doubt what anyone says about his own experience.
Truth and full disclosure would have made this whole experience much more pleasant, assuming they were organized enough to provide them.
Meanwhile I'm still "in processing" with more recent promises to keep my expectations warm.

Fact is Ford leaked plans to build as far back as 2015, I bought a Transit Connect in 2017 after having been convinced that they simply were not going to bring the Ranger back to the U.S.

I ordered 12/22 and only got my truck a week ago. It was a loaded Lariat which according to some reports is what they were trying to build first.

4 months, almost to the day for me from ordering to delivery.

Here is a Ranger review done by a guy from Ford marketing.
Listen closely because it is very revealing about why so many of us are still staring at an empty driveway.

He confirms the impression that Ford is holding out on lower trim levels, telling those folks to have patience and "in a few months" Ford will start to build the more affordable trim levels.

Also he contradicts Ford's advertising strategy by admitting that he mostly drives his Ranger to the "grocery store"... The commercial says "if you just want to drive to the grocery store buy any truck"
Overall a very honest review IMO.

Compare his :sunglasses:"offroading lifestye" :giggle:to that which marketing is pushing on the commercials!:surprised::crackup:
I guess some Rangers will actually be driven on pavement to ordinary destinations!:crackup::shock:

3 things are certain in life - death, taxes and when you order a plain jane xl 2wd 2019 Ford Ranger you are 100% guaranteed that you will receive your vehicle after any high profit trim model order placed after yours.

There are optimist, pessimist and realist in this world. Even thought I just receive my vehicle last week I am by no means bitter but to see others on this forum always trying to put lipstick on the Ford pig is very funny. Classify me as a realist.
BTW - I am extremely happy with the 2019 Ford Ranger. :like:

True that...
Which is an unprecedented breach of trust for Ford.

"Ford Motor Company" was built on affordable reliable vehicles for real people with common sense values and tight budgets.
Ford should respect real people, with real jobs who need affordable transportation for everyday work and play... that is Ranger's legacy... later for cliff diving Metrosexuals!:p

:idea:Fair is "first come first served", and should not be seen as a synonym to carnival.
