I've been considering doing something topographical on my hood!

Installed 589 hidden winch mount

° 589 went above and beyond for service. Excellent service. Buy from them.

° If you have a Lariat this is a busy install that will take all day.

° stegodon 9500 s2 with wireless remote

°no need to buy extension cables, control box fits on frame behind bumper, so wires can reach the winch. Self tappers on top and pinch the bottom mount between the tow hook and the frame. Rock solid.

Took it to the dealer for the 20k mile oil change for warranty purposes. I change the oil every 5k but take it to the dealer every 10k so they have a record of it.

I gotta admit, I’m pretty impressed by the creativity and mechanical skill that goes into a lot of the mods I’ve seen in this thread.

Well, not to be outdone….I broke out the tool box late this afternoon and got busy wrenching.

I was determined to get the engine cover that was delivered yesterday installed while it was still light out.

Fortunately, the correct hardware arrived today. Unfortunately…..it arrived at someone else’s house. Their address is similar to ours, so our mail occasionally gets mixed up. When the package wasn’t in our box, I jumped in the truck and knew right where to go.

Crisis averted.

So, armed with the proper hardware…..along with the twelve Water Pump Assembly Bolts that I had somehow managed to order by mistake, I set to work.

It was a tough two minutes. I mean, there were no directions included with this thing, it was darn near freezing for FL at like 69 degrees….and I did actually have to use a wrench.

But I got it done:

On a serious note, I’m honestly not sure why having this seemed so important to me. The first time I popped the hood I guess I felt somewhat cheated. Does it add any functional value? Not that I’m aware. Is my engine quieter? Not that I can tell. But I still dig it. Makes things feel a wee-bit more “complete” when I pop the hood now.

Anyway, this post wouldn’t be complete if I didn’t close with one final shot.

Here’s how the truck looks with the new engine cover installed and everything squared away and buttoned down:

Quite the dramatic change, right?

Lol, apologies for the long-ass post. I tend to ramble and go all sorts of sideways at times. Thanks for reading, and have a great tomorrow.

Gave it some fresh Mobil 1 and filter, and made sure there was 4 driveshaft bolts where that one guy only had two.

Took a few crappy night photos and this one was the best one. Here is the truck lit up. I’ll try to get some night time drone shots. The LP4s in the grill are not the correct beam I wanted but that’s all I had laying around the shop. I’ve been debating on running spot patterns in the grill.
