Yes, I would most likely have to do the same thing and go through Ford corporate.

We ordered the '21 the way we wanted it, but I honestly thought about just buying a '19 and modding it.

I was planning on installing the Roush CAI, using the Ford tune (which I assume is Roush) and then using the AFE Rebel muffler delete black dual side exit, in front of right rear wheel.

What tune did you get?
The Roush stage 2 comes with a Roush tune, which isn't the same as the the Ford Performance tune. The Roush tune claims "47 HP and 65 lb feet of torque, while the Ford Performance claims 45 HP and 60 lb feet or Torque. Again these are claims and cant bee 100% sure without a Dyno.

Is that a louder or lower pitch kit???

The clip above is my YouTube channel, my truck with gibson. It's slightly louder than stock but it's a deeper tone. 3" pipes. No fart can sounds!! It was super easy to install and I was able to remove the oem in one piece, no cutting, just patience removing. I plan to sell it and other take offs, had some more pressing needs to attend to 1st.

I tried to do a dyno at the Jamboree but there junk didn't have electricity. I'm going to look for a local dyno soon.

When I installed my Roush tune & Cold air kit they didn't have the exhaust in stock at the time so I shopped around, liked the Gibson better and it was several hundred bucks cheaper and free shipping. No tax.

Ah, I see that about the 2 different tunes now. I would also like the TurboSmart BOV, that takes maybe a whole 5-10 minutes, that I'd prefer to install over Ford...

I would maybe get the Stage 1 kit and find an ASE mechanic to install it for me.

Nice to see here. Hopefully you dont have issues with it. One thing that does concern me and you need to verify with both Ford(contact the performance division) and Roush is the warranty.

Why am I concerned you ask? Well with the Ford Performance Tune the factory warranty does get down graded(not to be confused with voiding a warranty, it's totally different) wjere the powertrain warranty drops down to 3 year 36,000 miles. I hope its not the same with the Roush performance kit but I would suggest looking into it. Worst case scenario you have a down greaded warranty. Best case scenario the warranty isnt an issue what so ever.
I was told as long as an authorized Roush dealer installed the tune, I keep the OEM warranty plus get the Roush 3 year 36k mile powertrain warranty, so if Ford says the tune caused an issue and won't cover it. Roush will . Skillman Ford is my local dealer I bought the truck from and the only Roush dealer in the area. Cost me $125 for them to install the tune.

If that is the case you cant really complain much at all. Not being one who has the Roush tune I want sure but I do remember looking into it before.

I got a great price on it to make it worth it to me. Plus that extra warranty, peace of mind. I also found out that you cannot defeat the system aka remove a tune back to stock, to dealer for a problem, each time you swap tunes you reset the key starts (or push button) to zero so if a guy lies after his cheap tune messes up his truck and tried a warranty claim, they will look at the key or button starts vs mileage and
Time etc. I asked about the auto start stops, if it affects that and was told no. Just the actually starting. They can also tell by removing the heads and looking at the pistons , fuel spray pattern stains are different.

Funny story with that, the dealer told me a guy bought a mustang GT from them, put a self tune in it and took it to a 1/4 mile drag strip for a whole day, ran the crap out of the Mustang and ended up trashing the tranny and some engine parts, he swapped his oem tune back in and tried a warranty claim and was denied. The dealer & Ford denied his claim due to the key starts and fuel spray and other stuff. The guy came in complaining was gonna sue etc, they took him back to the shop to his Mustang and the service manager reached into the cupholder and pulled out a handfull of run times and receipts from the track with his plate, Name and Vin on them...idiot got his car out of there (towed) and never came back ????, Darwins theory is alive and well, the dumb ones weed themselves out!

Yeah it's funny when people do that stuff lol. When I worked at a ford dealer Ford had a particular bulletin about the start count in IDS(not sure if FDRS has it yet) to check for a tune. Quite interesting to say the least in my opinion but for obvious reasons.

With that said you probably wonder if I'm tuned. I am and I went with Livernois. I run the Tow Tune and to say the least I like it!! Instead of going for pure power it focuses on efficiency so I shouldnt have to worry about the possibility of engine failure either.

Would've been nice if the Roush tune did that too, I run 92 octane and I've only lost 1 mpg and drive the same. Haven't checked lately tho

Roush tune and FP tune are completely different from my understanding, they also advertise 47 RWHP(with CAI) while FP tune advertises 45 HP. Not sure if nomenclature is correct in terms of FP tune, but definitely correct me if I am wrong someone who knows more about the two tunes.

It all depends on what the contracts with $4. For example for performance does downgrade the powertrain warranty. Rausch on the other hand may or may not. It all depends on what the contract is. As for other aftermarket companies like Livernois or five star well basically void the warranty.

Interesting. I have an extended warranty with the dealership, well through FORD, i wish i didnt buy it but at the time i was reading some horror stories on some rangers and thought hey, i might get a lemon. They did have to change the rear brakes on the red vixen at 7,000mi because piston was sticking. But i want a tune badly. I was wanting to go with FP just because it doesnt void the warrnaty upon getting it installed by ford or ase cert personnel. But i think it would suck downgrading my extended warranty to only 36k, means i waste my money. So for a fact, FP will downgrade any extended warranty? I keep regretting my decision of extending it haha

Im honestly unsure, I would talk to Ford corporate, not a dealer regarding that to get to the nuts and bolts immediately.

Yeah great Idea. For some reason the actual dealerships seem to know even less than their own customers about warranties, upgrades etc haha
