Not sure if anyone else has considered getting the full stage 2 treatment done to their Ranger but pulled the trigger and had mine installed today. The sound is amazing, and the tune makes a HUGE difference. Had Universally Modified Performance do the upgrade in Sterling VA, and they definitely knew their sh*t. Adding a video of my first full send after they installed it if anyone wants to know what it sounds like.

Nice - glad the arse end didn’t let loose in that curve!
Not on that pull but it was a learning curve on the way home, back end got a little loose at one point but I managed to keep her in check.

I wanna know if any of that voided the warranty? I can install anything myself, but my dealer isn't cooperating much with me... I've heard/read that I can do an intake, exhaust and tune myself and it won't affect the engine warranty. Then, I've also heard/read that I have to take it to Ford/ASE Certified "mechanic" to not void the warranty?

I got the run around myself trying to sort that, and that's exactly why I ended up going with Roush. My factory warranty is still intact, and Roush has a 3/36 warranty in place. The dealer themselves couldn't make heads or tails of much of anything. Spoke with Roush and if a Roush part breaks OR it damages the powertrain they would cover it for 36k. If something in the powertrain breaks and its not related to the upgraded parts then Ford will cover it. I'll admit its a little hazy but I think its enough should it have a serious problem. A certified ASE mechanic has to do the tune though, thats not negotiable.

That's good to know, as I contacted my dealer Monday, with the simple question, if adding some bolt on parts myself, will it void the warranty for the whole engine or just said part? I've gotten bounced around to 5 different people so far and my question still hasn't been answered...

Just got my '21 last Saturday and I'm getting ready to mod it. I told the dealer in the last email, that I'll just go ahead and put the parts on myself, since they all seemed clueless...

I did know about the tuning though and that's fine with me if the dealer or an ASE mechanic does it.

Thanks

Nice to see here. Hopefully you dont have issues with it. One thing that does concern me and you need to verify with both Ford(contact the performance division) and Roush is the warranty.

Why am I concerned you ask? Well with the Ford Performance Tune the factory warranty does get down graded(not to be confused with voiding a warranty, it's totally different) wjere the powertrain warranty drops down to 3 year 36,000 miles. I hope its not the same with the Roush performance kit but I would suggest looking into it. Worst case scenario you have a down greaded warranty. Best case scenario the warranty isnt an issue what so ever.

I appreciate the concern, and I think honestly when you start modding a vehicle that risk is part of territory. I 'll have to contact corporate Ford instead of a dealer as none of them seem to know whats going on.

Totally fair and you are not wrong with the risk involved when moding vehicles all together. Too my understanding the only big failures that uave happened on the Ranger powertrain have either been faulty parts or mainly due to 5Star Tuning. With that said i feel with Roush you shouldn't have any major issues. Its just nice to make sure the warranty is still intact.

Another side not and verify this with Roush but if memory serves me right I belive thier warranty technically starts from the original purchase date of the vehicle and not the performance kit. Still better than nothing but you will want to check on that too.

I believe that relates to Roush versions of vehicles, like the Roush Mustang or the Roush Ranger bought brand new from the dealer.

Yes, I would most likely have to do the same thing and go through Ford corporate.

We ordered the '21 the way we wanted it, but I honestly thought about just buying a '19 and modding it.

I was planning on installing the Roush CAI, using the Ford tune (which I assume is Roush) and then using the AFE Rebel muffler delete black dual side exit, in front of right rear wheel.

What tune did you get?
