I cleared my afternoon and had a 2nd birthday party for my Ranger. Lots of friends were there…Roush, aFe Power, Fox Performance, General Tire, Menace Wheels, and Plano All Weather Cases. There was no cake but a good time was had by all. Details are in my build thread - Phase Three.

Time to brag on my DIY rear differential cover/skid plate. Not yet finished/cleaned/painted. I am not an efficient welder, actually this is the first MIG welding project. Until now I only stick welded (MMA) stuff. The idea was to do as much welding as possible, thus I made it from mild steel 5mm thick flat steel(60mm wide). The cost is about 20$ not including welding wire(flux) cutting disks and other.

I am thinking to paint it dark gray. My car is full black, except a few items. Initially I wanted Ford blue, yet I find it too flashy. What do you guys think? Black is an option, of course ;).

I have a ton of respect for folks who do their own welding - even more respect when they crawl under their trucks on gravel driveways to work on them! ?

In all fairness, I only did the measuring and tacks under the car, the main welding was done on the workbench. However I did a lot of crawling, testing, welding and testing again as the metal stretches and bends from the heat.
Thank you for your compliment, I appreciate it!

Gave the Ranger a wash.. east coast storm came by this way and left water spots everywhere. I just detailed it a few days ago as the reports were sunny, had to shine it back up. The rare occasion I do tire shine as well. Looks very wet and glassy today.

Pre install pics. I’ve decided to go with custom paint ? so I’ve mixed black and silver as a top coat over a base of zinc paint. I could have dressed the welds and splatter on the inside better, yet it was not easy to grind there with the angle grinder. Flux welding seems to be an art I do not master yet. Anyway, I am satisfied with this little project.

I installed my new Raptor grille, lower valance, sensors and rings that I had painted Magnetic. Also added a Putco lower insert. I sanded the silver putco logo, scuffed the rest of the grille and painted it with a few coats of SEM trim paint. Also threw on a set of Weathertech in channel window visors. Now she just needs a good wash.

Thanks Steve. Since that day after the storm came by I guess I spoke too soon. The tail end of it stuck around and spotted up the truck again! Thankfully not crazy enough rain to cause all the accidents the other day did. Hope your area stayed dry after, looks like next coming days should be sunny again.

Lazy man wiped down the engine bay cause @DukeCanBuildit was making fun of me and gave the truck a wash. No pics of truck washed, I think I put that here like once a week with how much I wash it

EDIT: quick question, what is that yellow fluid on the top left and is it low? Got help from uncle. Leaving edit so y’all can laugh at my silly question
Did you notice any difference with the Roush filter?
