Does anyone have a water/methanol setup? I'm really interested in putting one on, it def helps to cool air Temps and acts like a higher octane for sure. My Speed3 & Mk7 gti ran so much stronger with it. Just curious if anyone has it on there Ranger yet.

Ranger no. But I have an aqua mist water system on my turbo motorcycle. Can only be used under full throttle.

Apparently we need the port injection style with our poor flowing intake manifold, or there's pooling on one cylinder.

Interesting, Mine injects water into the charge pipe right before the intake manifold and then it’s straight into the cylinder head. Cools the compressed air supply going into the engine.

If it could be done that way on the Ranger it would be less complicated. The mist should be so fine that pooling couldn’t be possible. Water will be quickly evaporated or consumed (lowering the temperature of the charge air) by the very hot air. Not doubting you, maybe that’s the difference between a high performance sport bike and a truck? I dunno?

This is what Livernois said about the 2.3 Eb & wm...

Why not just run an e85 blend instead. I ran e30 in my speed3 for about 6 years. Went from 13 degrees advance on 93 to 19 degrees advance on e30.

I am also running an E85 blend. The upgraded Mountune intercooler made it even better

E85 doesn't cool boosted air temps... W/M helps with cooler air Temps and ads "octane" levels. I can run Livernois E30 tune for that purpose.

I'm kinda leary on aftermarket intercoolers beings there isn't much room to go much bigger in the oem location

Gotcha. Yeah I was always really conservative with my right foot based on BATs. At the time, the AEM kit looked really nice. I'm willing to bet there aren't too many on here running WMI but certainly there are a lot of ST and RS guys doing it. I do recall guys doing 5th and 6th ports and WMI on speeds using one port even though that manifold flowed poorly. Maybe there's an adapter plate with ports you could put between the intake manifold and cylinder head.

There's always port... Lol

With flow tests comparing the eco and disi manifolds, I would be surprised if the 2.3 eco Mani could be worse than the disi Mani. That looks like a nice bit of kit!

I see the charge pipe and intercooler vendors advertise their equipment can be tapped for water/meth injection and while added power with that has good potential along with helping clean the valves it feels like the extra maintenance day to day might be a hassle.

Simple systems might be relatively cheap and crude netting what - 15 HP? And might have issues that Livernoise mentions. Who knows about the ECU freaking out.

An expensive and advanced system might get significant power - it does for the Mustang crowd - ultimately I bet a full on E85 conversion with sensors, injector rails and modded ECU would be better.

There I go talking myself out of water/meth injection. Must be the heat.
