Today's update is the truck has been returned from the accessory shop.
I believe that means the bed liner is complete. Should be ready for shipping now. But be patient, they do a LOT of sitting when they are "in transit".

My FX4 was "Built" yesterday September 1st. It went "In Production" on 8/23. So it took the Ford order tracker exactly 10 days to change from In production to built.

And Ford can't tell you why you haven't gotten a VIN or a build week yet? You should have gotten that at least 2 months ago I'd expect.

Something seems terribly wrong with that.....
From the time of placing an order with DORA confirmation....how long until a VIN# is issued? Does FORD automatically notify us of the VIN#? Thanks (over on the Bronco Page; in the case of the Bronco....a VIN is not issued until it is almost scheduling to build). Thanks!!!

I would expect Bronco's are in a different spot due to all the issues they've been having. Generally speaking, you should get a VIN and a build week about a month after the order is accepted by Ford. You will get a build DATE (actual date) much closer to the build week. And things CAN change as scheduling requirements change. Right now, I can only imagine how difficult it is to schedule builds due to all the parts shortages.

As far as I know Ford does not notify customers - the dealer would do that, and some are good and some are not.

My order confirmation from ford was 7/12. I got the vin and build week(8/30) in the same email on 7/16. Just got email that my build day is 9/1
Were those emails from FORD or your Dealer? Thanks

Heres my complete data: 320210831 BLEND 2906
739/823

And it will be shipped by Rail, which is most likely a given.
How do you decipher those numbers? Thank you.

Thanks for the info. For those reading: A factory employee tells me that with all the Bronco issues they are now building 6-7 Rangers for every 1 Bronco....so maybe it will speed up builds of our Rangers.

Mine has shown in production since 8/9. No movement on Ford order tracking site or palsapp since then.

with the dealer sales code, and the order number for your truck, you can start calling Ford at 800-334-4375 , 1 than hold.
Yell them you want to track your truck.
don't be surprised if they start telling you about a different vehicles as the dealer can use the order number for several vehicles at the same time, all the sales code is, it a number the dealer made up.
The people who answer this phone number will give you your VIN when it comes up. (so will dealer, but your salesperson will hate you if you call every day, the ford line is all sub contractors so who cares how often you call :0 )

something else I noticed is any change always seems to be on Tuesday mid morning.
my order was accepted on Tuesday, my VIN came up on Tuesday, my production started Tuesday, Also every Tuesday the date code on bottom of your window sticker will change. nothing changes on sticker, just the date on bottom.

I seem to recall I got my VIN in a week or 2 after the order was accepted by Ford.
than about 7 weeks later the window sticker came on line.
about 8 says later it was being built.

I never got one email from Ford, even though I ordered my truck myself on line and had the order sent to my dealer.

Oh, and don't trust the data your seeing in this window. Mine still shows its in shipping. I know it was unloaded from train on Saturday as I was tracking it with CSX. We were in the dealer on Tuesday and saw my truck sitting on lot.

This is my experience of the ordering process combined with dates. Wanted to post this so people could get a feel for what it has been like ordering during the chip shortage of 2021. Background, I have a little more inside knowledge than most as I work at the ford dealer that I ordered with. I ordered a 21 Ranger Tremor in Cactus Gray with added factory bed liner and tow package.

April 27, 2021 - went into sales manager's office, sat down and built my ranger out on the order sheet with him. Order was sent in and I got a printout of my build sheet with pricing (D-plan)

April 29, 2021 - got confirmation of my order through ford and got my VIN. Was scheduled for week of June 14th as of this day.

May 2021 - Ranger plant was shut down for 2 weeks during this month. Unfortunately even from the dealer side I was unable to see any updates on the sales locater about if my build date pushed back at all.

May 31, 2021 - ranger plant opened back up and confirmed that my build date was pushed back 2 additional weeks, assuming everything got pushed back due to the closure, so this was expected. New build date was week of June 28th.

June 14, 2021 - My build week updated to build day of June 2! YAY!!! I was excited to get a build date and be able to see on the customer order tracking that progress towards it was being made. I also got a window sticker at this time in our dealer OASIS page and could finally pull my truck up in the workshop manual. I will say I was slightly worried about it being built on a Friday before a holiday weekend, especially as that particular day I had 2 brand new trucks (both less than 30 miles on odometer) which had electrical issues due to improper assembly at the factory causing wires to become crushed and shorting various circuits. These were on f150's so totally different plant, but still concerning.

July 5, 2021 - Got notice on dealer site that my truck was built, at this point I believe it was just awaiting the spray in Bed liner. The customer order tracking site said still in progress so I assume they had finishing touches to put on it.

July 9, 2021 - Dealer website changed status to shipped! Got an estimated ETA from the customer order tracking site of delivery to my dealer from July 28-August 3. This is slightly problematic as I am going on a trip the 29th and would not return until the 3rd and would love to be able to drive this truck on the trip. I was informed by my sales manager that we could send someone to grab the car from the depot assuming it shows up prior to then.

July 12, 2021 - A sales associate who was previously a technician I worked with hooked me up with the rail car # and shipping info and I spent a good portion of my morning at work calling into the automated system attempting to read my railcar number to the locator with the automated voice detection software constantly mistaking my "C" for a "B" and "T" for an "E". Found last update was in Wallbridge Ohio Saturday morning, so it has left the manufacturing plant and is on its way to Houston!

My next update will be flooding the forums with pictures of my new truck and I am happy to have the waiting game done. All in all a little over 3 months from order to delivery assuming all dates hold, my first ordered vehicle ever and I cannot wait to get outside with the thing. Good luck to all of y'all ordering and may the manufacturing gods be on your side!
I special ordered my 2020 Lariat S/Cab on Aug. 20, 2019, the same week Ford released ordering info for MY 2020 Rangers.

The truck arrived in Honolulu January 16, 2020, I took delivery 2 days later.

Was the almost 5 month wait worth it? Absolutely!
